Computer n Me ...  

I first saw a computer at age six.It was a minicomputer and had gigantic Storage Units,line printers and puch-card readers.I am told that it was
one of the first commercial machines to come to India.Many many years have passed since then.I have had my own PC for the last 11 years.And I have realised one thing-that your computer counts for nothing.You are the slave of the current technology.By this I mean you are only as good as your last upgrade.You are only as effective as the last bit of software you purchased.No matter how well you have maintained your PC it counts for nothing.If you work within a very tight budget as I do this becomes very difficult.For the fear of obsoloscencealways looms large on the horizon.And the newest developments are often very beneficial for your machine.Not only must you be ready to spend heavily but it helps to remain informed.Read all the books,magazines and newspapers you can and utilise the advice of experts like Bill Gates/Esther Dyson/Nicholas Negroponte etc.The scope of their articles is often so wide that it affects the average user.Another point I would like to make is that all the bells and whistles of your system should be used.It helps to enhance general system performance.Finally,I am a complete layman and whatever I have written is from decade-long experience of using a machine at home.I hope my experiences can help someone.
