About Promoting Blogs

What type of blog are you looking to promote. You want to build backlinks and get visitors in. Backlinks you can get by sites linking to yours, whether thats via directories or friends with blogs they are all the same. Another way is that if you have a lot of different blogs you can link to all of your blogs in a circular pattern. As far as visitors go, that's your writing techniques that get them in.

The best way to promote blogs IMO, is to visit other blogs of a similar theme to yours, read them and leave comments - there will be a link back to your blog with every comment you leave, and if your comment is interesting, other visitors will want to see what your blog is all about.

You can also join websites like Blog catalogue - http://www.blogcatalog.com where you can list your blogs and have others links to yours. And you can check out Blog Explosion - http://www.blogexplosion.com/index.php?ref=dereka

If you have your blog with http://www.blogger.com/ there are links there where you can list your blog, ping your blog etc.. See site for more information. I have had a level of success with all the above, there are also other sites if you enter "blog promotion" on google.. Good luck:-)

I don't know.I started a blog and started promoting it on a few message boards for the topic of my blog and the management of the blog froze my blog,said that they were investigating me for spam.They opened it a few days later and apologized,saying that they were wrong.But,now Iam afraid to tell anybody about it or even go in and work on it.A fellow myLot member told me that they do that if you make anymore then 5 changes on it in 24 hours time.They think you are a spambot.

Include you link in all your emails. Join networking sites and have it on your profile and blog about it on the sites that have blogs for their members.
By using words that people are googling for you can make some traffic that way what some called organically.
Tell all your friends.
Submit the link to the blog to directories. These all should give you some traffic and as people find you then the traffic will build. Anything good is worth waiting for and working at. Good luck to you.

i think that the best way to promote your blog is posting about it in different forums, you can also promote your blog like i do which is posting about my blog on my friend's profile pages

There are several ways. There are several sites on the internet which provide 'bookmarks'. If you sign up on those sites and bookmark your blog, the more links are created on the internet to your blog and more people find them on search engine. Yahoo provides bookmarks. You can look on google for more.

Also, there is a site called Traffic Swarm ( http://www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?550916 ) using it you can get targetted traffic to your blog. You have to surf for sites of your interest. And for each site you visit they give you between 1 to 5 credits. And for each credit your site is displayed once in the list of sites that others have to visit. Its good.

Add your blog to the search engines and blog directories. Use traffic exchanges. Go to my blog and scroll down and look to the right side panel and you will see a bunch of different directories that are free to use. http://cwilson26.blogspot.com

Also when you visit different forums besides Mylot you can add a signature so that whenever you post your signature will be at the bottom. Place your blog link in your signature. I hope this helps. I also have a paid advertising I use that is working very well for me. I wrote a post about it last night. All you have to do is pay a one time fee of $10 and it is yours to use forever. I advertise my blogg on free advertising sites to get referrals for my businesses. And amazingly it works. If you want to know of one site I use frequently that works, just PM me and I will give you the link. It only takes 10 minutes a day to keep my blogg on the front page where I get a lot of viewers. I have several referrals from this blogg.

I think the safest way to promote a blog is by reading other people's blogs and leaving good comments on them. Then people check out your profile and your blogs. Being active on forums and communities can help. You can also submit blogs for approval on myLot.
