Do you think telling you child there is a Santa Clause is wrong?  | |  I cam across a dicussion with one of my co-workers and she was telling me that she has never told her children that there was a Santa Clause becasue you are makeing it seem as if it is ok to lie. She does have a point because when your child finds out that there is really no Santa they world comes crashing down. I have 6 year old twins and now I am wondering if it was right to tell the that there is a Santa, Tooth Fairy, and Easter Bunny. What do you thin on this subject. Should we lie to our children? Now she got me wondering!!! HELP!

They believed if they lied to us as young children, we would be less likely to be believe them later on. And I'm glad they did that. But it isn't an awful thing to LET your kids believe in Santa. It won't damage them long term. And parents are in no way bad for letting their kids believe in it. It's a personal parental choice.

I was raised that there was a Santa Clause, Easter Bunny and what have you, but, because of my chrisianity, I wanted my children to not be romanced by these charachters and focus on what the true meaning of the hoilday was all about.
It all comes down to personal choices.

I had always considered it part of the magic of childhood to believe in Santa and the tooth fairy etc. I was brought up to believe in Santa and don't feel that it was detrimental tomy upbringing or made me disbelieve things I was told or more likely to lie. Regarding lying to children I believe that things such as eating crusts will give you curly hair are much more harmful lies.
