my boys are not happy with me |
| |
| After having confiscated their schoolwork last week, and not letting them have it back for 2 days, although listening ot them accuse each other taking it, was humorous, I gave it back to them ONE DAY, and they left it out again, ok, hiding it was not an option, letting them accuse each other was not an option, I took both their assignments and dumped them all in a bucket, and mixed them all up, now they have to go through it all and sort it out according to subject, and what not, which is more tedious for my 14 year old because more of his work is on paper and not in text books. So they aren't happy with me, as well as doing this they will have to redo at least one assignment from each subject that is already complete... Hopefully finally they will learn their lesson about putting their schoolwork away. Mooch | | | | | |

| | LOL! They will learn their lesson, I'm pretty sure about that! I wish I could do that too. Our problem is that we just can't help feeling sorry for the kids, most especially my 12 year old son. We can't even stand the mere thought of him in panic when he loses something important. A lot of times we reprimand him for not paying attention, and my fiance would ground him from using the computer and the telephone. But that punishment would last only for a day. My fiance can't stand feeling sorry for the boy while he sits behind his older sister watching her use the computer. I think you're doing pretty good on that. Believe me, you're teaching them to be responsible with their stuff, and that's quite an important value for them to have not just for now, but for the rest of their lives! | | | | | | |

| | Well I hope they do learn their lesson! Maybe if you remind them for a few days they will remember? I know it is a pain to have to remind them all the time but these things seem to evade kids brains. | | | | | | |

| | My kids, I find are the ones that forget 30 seconds after yout ell them something, esp. if its something that relates to a punishment... IE no tv, computer, playstation, etc. Unfortunately I did remind them to put their schoolwork away.... I told them next tiem I will figure out a way to make it worse..... Not sure hwo to do that yet, but I'll come up with a way. mooch | | | |

| | LOL sounds like my kids. Come to think of it; sounds like most kids I know. Shoot I know I was guilty of forgetting to put things away more than once. My dad used to throw my stuff in the trash if I forgot to put it away!! | | | |

| | That sounds like a good way to get your message across to them, oneandone, LOL. Kids can be so frustrating. Just keep doing what you are doing and they will eventually get tired of doing it over. | | | | | | |

| | Sorry but nope, they won't learn their lesson. I've tried everything I could think of to get my daughter to put her stuff away and there it all is right in the middle of her bedroom floor or on the bed. | | | | | | |

| | Sounds like my 11 year old. Her stuff winds up UNDER the bed though, that way she can blame the dog. | | | |

| | Once again, you are right. They need to be trained, and that is what you are doing because you love them. They will understand and respect you more as they mature. Keep up the good work sugar. I commend you. | | | | | | |

| | I don't know if I would of done that, I mean maybe if it wasn't schoolwork. I don't mess with things that involve their learning. If my daughter or son had finished their homework and then left it out, even if it was more then once, I can't find it in myself to mess their hard work up, more so because it's a grade and it's part of their schoolwork. If it's a toy or something, then yeah, I'm all for doing something like that. | | | | | | |

| | :) 1 lesson for children is most working...show them the rich people where they live show them cars from rich people...and show them the life places from poor people...im sure they`ll start writing the homework and will never leave a class :))) | | | | | | |

| | yikes, that is scarier to me than the homework being left out... kind of puts the emphasis on the wrong thing - riches make happiness? neatness makes wealthiness? avarice is desirable? I think mooches idea has correlation to the problem at hand. they did not care to take their responsibility with putting up their work. they were disorganized. the punishment was further disorganization that necessitated them cleaning it up. it demonstrated how putting things off, procrastinating can make troubles become worse, messes become bigger, solutions become more work and trouble...etc | | | |
