The Habits acquired in childhood are important in adult life. Children need fresh air and exercise, even more than an adult, in order for their muscles to develop and for their bones to grow.
The fitness level in children is low and there are number of reason: Children walk far less than they used to. Children play outdoors less than they used to. their diets comprise too much fast food, fried food, chocolate, crisps, sweets fizzy drinks and convenience foods.
So make sure your child go out to play and never let your children go out of house without first eating breakfast, also have healthy lunch. Live and Enjoy Your Life.

with todays danger of children playing outside, your suggestion still could be done. Lots of kidnappers are out there to kidnap our kids. With lots of worldwide traffickers of human cargo, we also need to protect our children. Your suggestion with letting my child walk far is a good suggestion.
