| | Hi workenmom, yes,I started a reward system to help with the environmental impact disposible diapers have . I own a locksmith company and thirty years ago,I started rewarding mom's that used cloth diapers with a free key cut or a discount on my services. this continues today, but over the years I have revised it a couple of times, but it is esentially the same idea. I started by taking the parents word for the fact they were using cloth on their kids, but I got that knocked out of me pretty quick. So now,I ask to see that they are wearing plastic pants, this way,it does not matter if they are in diapers, training pants,or just need extra protection in case. I can truthfully say, that I know of a large number of parents that changed to cloth as a result of my advertising. You say you are a young mom,do you or did you use cloth? If you do and you get up my way, stop by,get your key cut. take care. | | | | | | | workenmom (673)

| | that's a really good idea, and actually I don't use cloth, but I should, my little brother had cloth diapers when he was a baby so I know how they work, but we don't have a laundry mat here so we don't wash clothes as often as we should. | | | | mac1946 (1092)

| | ok,thank you for being honest, perhaps when you move into your own place, you will have a laundry room? I did read ne of your other posts and I know your young one is only around a year old,so there is time, and if you need any help later with potty training,I am an unofficial board leader with Ivillage.com. talk to you later. | | In Vermont, I don't know where, but we get VT news in Northern NY. Anyway, one enterprizing family started a diaper laudering service. People bring in their watered down, rinsed diapers in a canister. They are cleaned, dried, and folded by the service. I thought that was very cool. I protect the environment by only picking 1 out of 7 wild plants when they are in a moderate amount and 1 out of 3 when they are abundant and don't pick any if they are the first few I've seen on my property. I give environmental gifts to people. Mommies with babies, I give cloth diapers if I know they will use them. I also give babyfood making mills. These help the Mom so many ways. First, regular table food that the family eats (before strong spices or herbs are added) can be milled in it. So the Mom doesn't have to buy a separate jar of string beans for example. Second, the Mother can cut down on all the little jars she buys. Third, the jars that she does have can be recycled by putting left over baby food in or those diaper pins or anything else she wants to keep track of. I have a reduce, reuse, and recycle discussion started. You can visit mine and respond to it, too. | | | | | | | workenmom (673)

| | that's a really cool idea, I actually visited vermont before, nice state. what a great idea that they started with the diapers and actually heard of that before but there isn't a place like that here. that would be cool if there was though. and i'll visit your discussion too, thanks | | | | writersedge (7230)

| | Maybe you or someone else in your area could start a business like that? Yes, VT is very progessive, they have all kinds of environmental stuff. Sometimes I look at these posts and wonder if I could start a business in my area doing whatever. Most people in my area use throw away diapers or wash their diapers in their own washing machines. So unless I paired it with something else, it wouldn't go. | | | | workenmom (673)

| | Yes, I know. It does take money to start a business. I've tried to start different ones on a shoestring and none have taken off yet. | | | | | | | The Undying Dream Film See how Honda applies our dreams to the environment's advancement. www.honda.com | add comment | | | |

| | I use the energy star light bulbs in my house and I do recycle every thing I can. I also compost. Also once per week I go to the product exchange room at the local recycle center and see what they have to offer. I have found oven cleaner, spray snow for window decor, new oil for the truck, paint for small projects, grout for tile repair, and much more. I do run the AC but only enough to get the humidity out of the air. In the winter I keep the heat at 64 which is plenty warm when it is -35 below zero outside. | | | | | | | workenmom (673)

| | I do all the basic things involved in saving energy. Not using lights during the day if I can help it, and then, I only use it when it's needed and keep it turned off the rest of the time. I recycle, I conserve water. I use public transportation, in a sense, and I do a heck of a lot of walking on this campus. I do just about all I can to save as much energy and as much environment as I can. | | | | | | | | | | Now: Baby Food Mill -63% Compare prices now and save up to 63% on great value Baby Food Mill! www.Baby-Food-Mill.best-deal.com | add comment | | | |
