A dentist usually likes you to schedule a visit twice a year.
I'm surprised the receptionist didn't schedule an appointment for your friend.Usually they set the next appointment before you leave the office.

i've been working as a dental assistant for almost 3 years..a patient is required to visit the dentist every six months with or without something bad with your tooth..for sure you had caught some cavities and the tooth can still be saved for futher damage if you do regular check ups..if your friend had only knew the regular check up he could have been saved from severe pain..every wix months, our teeth must be checked, clean and should be filled if there are any that had develop cavities..always keep in mind that brushing is not enough to take away cavity from decaying the tooth..so it is recommended to have the teeth clean for special care to get yourself away from dentures..having dentures is not that easy as many would think..

I too came about this point only a few years back. We are supposed to go to a dentist atleast every 6 months and get a cleaning done. There is not much awareness in the public when it comes to tooth care.

as a dentist told me we need to visit the dentist at least every 3 months. i was not really able to do that. since i am really lazy going to the dentist and i am a bit scared of going to the dentist though i will one time. i like to have all of my teeth to be checkee up and be free from tartar.
