2. wahmbuddy (323) | 4 years ago | Yes I think a lot of parents are too laid back. I also think that a lot are afraid to discipline their children, and by that I DON'T mean hitting them. Over the last 10 - 15 years it has become more difficult to act as a parent without someone else stepping in. I think it is possible to love your children and bring them up to know right from wrong and to respect ppl and things.

lizabeth (499) | 4 years ago | I agree. Some parents don't realize that trying to be a friend hurts them in the long run. Children need guidance.

4. achilles7 (1047) | 4 years ago | the prime duty of the parent is to correct their kids when they are wrong and appreciate when they are doing what they ought to do.Encouragement is also essential like punishments or scolding. Be dare to scold and give plenty of appraisal.

5. srhelmer (5534) | 4 years ago | I believe many parents are lost when it comes to disciplining their kids. If they spank them, it's abuse. If they yell at them, it's abuse. If they lock them in their room, it's neglect. And, unfortunately, the only methods left don't work.

7. themyl (593) | 4 years ago | In my opinion from observations, I think that most parents are not laid back when it comes to their children. On the other hand, some parents seem not to care about their children and what happens to them. About a month ago my son’s friend (a 9-year-old boy) was run over by a pick-up truck on the road. The little boy was about 2 miles away from his house. This is how they were because of lack of parental guidance. The little boy died a few days later, God rest his soul. We are NOT the types of parents that allow our kids to go to their friend’s house, call us Over protective or whatever, but we Love our Children and don’t want any harm to befall them.

9. aztravelagent (225) | 4 years ago | I depends on the parents. We do not allow our children to eat or drink anywhere except at the kitchen table. We do not let our children watch mainstream tv. They watch the noggin channel, disney channel, pbs kids, and the like. They are 6 and 4. They do not use the words stupid, idiot, shut up, etc. They have never heard the word crap, until we mistakenly let them watch Jurassic Park recently.

aztravelagent (225) | 4 years ago | ps...they also do not drink soda. They drink water and milk. The younger one likes juice, but we limit her intake to one serving a week. The older one does not like juice. They eat several fruits and veggies everyday.

| 10. fuschiamoon (74) | 4 years ago | I would probably be seen by many people to be "too laid back" with my kids. I believe in letting them have the freedom to make their own decisons and to learn from those decisons. I give them advice and guidance but do not control every aspect of their lives.
