Jim Carrey - another John Lennon? |
| |
| A documentary detailing the making of Sir George Martin's album 'In My Life' featured Robin Williams, Phil Collins and the excellent Jim Carrey. Carrey sang 'I am the Walrus' and I have to say, he was hilarious. Sir George basically just let him loose in the studio and mopped up the blood off the walls afterwards - heh! Carrey was also a rather good singer. Although his personality is not as acidic as John Lennon, I could imagine him in a tribute movie playing the part really well. | | | | | |

| | I love Jim Carrey and I love John Lennon, but I somehow can't see Jim playing John. For starters Jim is too good looking and I mean no offence to John when I say this as John had very distinctive features and Jim's are just too pretty. With regard to the wackiness then yes I see the connection though. | | | | | | |

| | Yes but other actors have played famous people without necessarily looking like them physically. It's more a matter of stance, distinctive mannerisms and speech patterns which I'm sure Carrey is quite able to copy. He has a very mobile face too, which would work to his advantage. Anthony Hopkins only vaguely resembled Richard Nixon but did a brilliant job all the same. | | | |

| | Well, the weight of opinion seems to be against me so far, but I'm not giving up yet. Okay, it's a bit strange but I still think he could do it. | | | |

| | You are proberly right Jim Carey has played in some series roles in movies and did a good job as well as he has in the comedy movies. I liked Number 23 and The Trueman Show and they were both series role movies so he will proberly do great in this movie also. | | | |

| | I absolutely adore the Beatles... I have been enjoying their music together and alone ever since I was kid (my sister used to listen to them all the time- she is 14 yrs older then me). I would have loved to have seen Jim Carrey singing that. | | | | | | |

| | Believe me it was a bluddy riot! His imitation of an English upper class accent was great. Sir George told him to imagine a Noel Coward type for 'sitting in an English garden, waiting for the sun to come' and so on. But what impressed me was that he had a great singing voice and would follow direction when asked to. Then of course he's go manic now and then - which meant he'd fling himself around the studio for the 'I'm dying' lyric. | | | |
