I played this game hand and foot a few years back, it is a fun card game. I wish I could remember how to tell you how it is played. I am sure if I was playing I could quickly pick back up in playing, but have forgot how it is played enough to tell you how it is played.

This is one of my favourite card games and I wish more would learn how to play.
Yes the two hands are called "hand and foot".
The natural red three canasta = 5 hundred
All other natural canasta = 3 hundred
All wild card canastas = 2 hundred
An all wild card canasta = 5 hundred or 7 hundred(we can't remember)
And than you add or subtract the card point values.
Red threes not in a canasta = -100
Black threes caught in the hand or foot = -100
Aces = 15
King = 10
Queen = 10
Ten = 10
Nine = 5
Eight = 5
Seven = 5
Six = 5
Five = 5
Four = 5
Two's, Jack's and Jokers(Wild cards) = 50
These are the scores we use, I hope I'm right.
I am sure that there are sites that will give you the right scoreing as mine may be wrong. Susan

Overview

* Your goal is to beat your opponent by scoring more points. You score points by melding cards, and making as many canastas as possible.
A canasta is a meld of at least seven cards of the same rank.
* Each player starts with 15 cards in hand. Yours are visible at the bottom of the window.
* Both players take turns in drawing one card from the stock, and discarding one card on the discard pile (in that order).
Both players take turns in drawing the first card.

I know where to get the rules, though I have never heard it called six deck canasta, only hand and foot. My dad will send me the rules, I am pretty sure. I really enjoy the game, but seldom play it. All games reinforce math and reasoning skills and besides that are just darn fun for families. I will e-mail my dad for the rules now. Have fun. I will post them if no one else helps you out.
