You Want To Be A USA Citizen... Then Learn English!!  

why is it so hard to visit USA, dadyduke? is it because im from a poor country?

i truly think that it all boils down to learning english. if i were to move to italy, i would learn to speak at least basic italian!! spanish is only written on things here because they comprise a large part of the american market and companies would hate to not have their money.

no, i don't want to be a usa citizen, i'm glad to be a Chinese. but i like to learn English. i like chatting with friends all over of the world.

frankly, i dont' know why lots of peopel want to be USA citizens. are there some benefits?

My feelings as to why there is Spanish on a lot of products and on a lot of store signs is because, even though some of these immigrants may want to become citizens, and respect this country's traditions, there are far more of them who don't. The use of Spanish is a sign of a company's greed, in my opinion. If they use Spanish, they will be sure to get business from those that are not taking learning English seriously. One of the best things you can do is to not buy any product that has the use of Spanish on it. There could also be another reason for Spanish on products, which is, the product was "made" in a Spanish speaking country and then shipped here.

I believe that it isn't only spanish that is written on everything but there are also other languages as well. If you buy hair coloring, a vacuum, or any other household, personal product they have more than 1 language printed on the label.

I am a citizen of the US and I would like to eventually go oversees whether it be to live or visit. I think that it is just a common courtesy for different languages to be printed on a product. Nothing more nothing less.

Just because someone learns the laungage here doesn't mean they should be forced to give up who they are and their home county of origin. Why should they have to give up their culture and who they are just to live in this country. That is what is suppose to seperate us from everyone else. The fact that all cultures and groups can live here. I have lived all over the world and do you think Americans in those places learn to speak the laungage there? NO. They expect everyone to cater to them and their needs. What the hell gives you the right to tell someone else what they can and can't speak and what they need to do?

I am definitely with you. I think it should be required to become a US citizen. It's ridiculous that it's not! I could really go on here but I'm not going to for the sake of my sanity and keeping peace.

Spanish is written on everything for all those people are not citizens and just because you have a understanding on a language does not mean you completley understand it.

I agree 100% on this issue- Live here in America- speak our language-- English! Stop catering to the Spanish speaking citizens- I swear if I hear press 1 for English again- I'll scream! I work as an accountant for a public company and you would not believe the amount of calls we get when they are speaking Spanish- Like I'm supposed to understand that- I nicely say- I do not speak Spanish in ENglish- if they keep talking in Spanish I usually hang up-
