Yes the white things do look like grains of rice. I told my husband that it was worms but her insisted I was wrong because Smokey had worms before and when we saw one in the fur around his butt that time it looked different, it was longer and it moved. These don't move. I have used de-worming medication for him and my dog before. My husband thought for some reason he might have hemmroids or something.

Sounds like worms to me. The tapeworms look like small pieces of white rice when they dry up and die (per our vet). The worms can't hurt your cat, but they are gorss. We get our cats dewormed every year at their annual appointments. Definitely worth the money. Even if you don't have other animals in the house, you can bring in a flea that can bit them and give them worms.

You were right it did turn out to be worms. I got his the worm stuf fromt he pet store because going to the vet is traumatic for him plus they charge you the extra $50 for the diagnosis.

You really should have paid the extra $50. By giving your cat the over the counter medication you could have killed him. Most of those products are not tested (unlike human medicine) and common cause pets more harm than good. Next time save up the money and bring the cat to the vet.

The product I used is vet tested. Worm medication was unavaiable from anywhee but a vet for about a year around here until one came out that was tested and approved. It is the same medication that the vet uses. It is a canadian made product and must pass Canadian prodcut standard which are quite high. (I didn't look to see hwere you live) The brand is Sergeant's Vetscription and it worked very well. I use the same brand for flea medication after hearing many bad reports from many local pet owners on the brand of flea stuff that they were buying from the vet not working. I know many people that did a full round of vet flea and tick meds this year and had no results and had to go out and get this brand in order to get thebugs off thier animals.

By the way that egg pciture doesn't belong here. it was supposed to go on a response to a discussion about unique chocolate but for some reason if you have a picture loaded and ready to attach to a discussion in one window and then you leave that and go to another window and submit a response to another discussion, somehow the picture will get pulled from the other window and put onto whatever reponse you sumbit first, regardless to whether you actually attached the picture to that comment or not. I don't know how it does it but it is REALLY getting on my nerves.
