Fleas on Cats?? How do you prevent them???

Flea collars are a waste of your money. They dont work. The best way to get rid of fleas on your cat is to bath with flea shampoo several times. If you cant do it yourself take the cat to a groomer. I use to be a groomer and what we did with the cats put them in a cage that you can put in the tub and its easy to spray them with water and squeeze fleas shampoo on them and let the shampoo set on them for 5 or 10 minutes then rinse. You will have to repeat this in a couple of weeks.

Frontline makes a cat brand. Whatever you do, do NOT use anything for dogs on your cats. It is deadly and will kill them within a day.

Flea collars are a waste of time, but mine still wear them, mainly for ID puproses. I took a Sharpie and wrote their names and my phone # on the collar.

Some people will tell you to stay clear of Hartz formulas. Some cats have gone into renal failure or died from Hartz, but I've ben using them now for 20 years and have had no problems. But I'd suggest Frontline. You can buy the big dog frontline and split it among your cats in 6 doses. Search for cat frontline on eBay and you'll see what you mean. It's much, much, much cheaper to buy a pipette of the large dog frontline, a glass vial and a syringe with no needle and divide the Frontline up over your cats using the syringe. It's .5ML per cat. Works great and costs less. I have 12 cats to treat. Two pipettes @ 10 each lasts me a month rather than paying $85 for 2 boxes of 6 pipettes each from my vet.

I actually get Advantage for our cat and it works great. We've never had a problem with them. I used to get the same thing for my dog and he went out all the time and never had a flea problem.
