As I said, things were beginning to turn around after being delivered from potential eviction and now a job interview for the perfect job.
But two weeks after I paid the rent I owed, my landlord served me with a three day notice again for the two weeks rent I owed already (I live in a hotel and pay rent weekly). Since it was such a low amount compared to what I'd just paid, I thought that would be easy. Especially since I was pretty sure I was going to get the job and could then pay regularly. Well, I got before God again and pressed in for a miracle once again.
My father and one of my sisters were in no position to help and I just couldn't call my friend again. I tried to reach my other sister but she refused to even return my call. I simply had to trust God for a miracle and I had to saturate myself with the Word. I didn't know what God was going to do but I just trusted that He would take care of me. I called the KCM prayer line almost every day and continued to cast down all thoughts and imaginations contrary to my prayers. It was not easy but I was determined to get victory in this situation.
I did get the job and the second week of the job, I had to file a response to the Unlawful Detainer papers I was served. Four days later, I was informed that the court date would be just two and a half weeks later. Again, I stayed in prayer and the Word and believed God for a miracle and went on with my life resting on God's Word as being true and that no weapon formed against me would prosper and He would deliver me from all my troubles.
The day before I was supposed to go to court, I still had no money and had no idea what God was going to do but I determined to trust Him to deliver me and give me a miracle. The next morning, I had a peace about the whole situation. I just knew that God was going to do something.
When I got to court, my landlord was no where in sight. And, the judge was late. I sat in the courtroom expecting a miracle. About an hour after court had begun, the judge was still not there and my landlord walked in and beckoned me to come out in the hall to speak with her. We sat down and discussed the situation and she came up with a figure that I would need to pay within ten days and a weekly payment plan for the rest. If I didn't get the money, I was to move out by September 5th or we would go back to court on the 6th. I got my miracle! She was going to give me more time and work out a payment plan for part of the money. Of course, I had no idea where the money was going to come from but I agreed to whatever she said to gain the time needed to work something out.
After we made the agreement, we went back into the courtroom. The judge still hadn't shown up. Evidently, he was delayed and a bit later, a different judge came in and took the bench. He called those up who had made settlements or agreements one by one. When we were called, we went up and the judge read the terms then he sort of looked surprised when he got to the second page. He read the terms of how much I'd pay by the certain date and that I'd then pay a certain amount each week. He looked up at my landlord and said, "You mean she can stay?" Evidently, the deal my landlord made with me was rather unusual. I just knew that I was very grateful and went home to call my family and then went to work.
Again, I got into prayer and into the Word and trusted God for another miracle. The date I was supposed to pay the bulk of the money came and went and I still had no money and no where to move. But I kept trusting God for a miracle. On the 4th, I finally was able to really turn the whole situation over to God since I had no way to do anything. I went to work and was determined to have a good day. I did! And, when I came home, I had a message on my answering machine from my youngest sister who said that my other sister had agreed to send the money I needed as long as I would agree to pay her back.
Since she had previously refused to even call me or discuss the situation, I considered that a bonafide miracle! I was so relleved but there was another potential hangup. My sister was sending the money to my Dad and he said he wouldn't be able to get them to me until the 7th. That was two days late. So, I wrote a note to my landlord explaining that I would have the entire amount I owed her but couldn't get access to the money until Friday.
The next morning she was in court on another matter and was going to ask for a continuance in my situation until the following Monday to give me time to get the funds. I thought that was pretty miraculous as well. But, while she was trying to get a continuance, I had gotten word from my Dad that he would be able to wire the money to me on the 5th so I could pay her on time. I got word to the landlord and waited for the wire to come through.
About 4 hours later, I had the money and got back to the hotel where I live to meet with the landlord and pay her. She was just about as happy as I was that I'd gotten the money. She really didn't want to evict me but she is running a business and no matter how much she likes me, she needed to get paid.
All I know is that for the first time in four years, I am completely paid up with my rent and I have a great job and can now focus on getting my business off the ground. How is that for a praise report on how good God truly is to me?
