Help Me | | My Windows Vista's logon screen displays 2 identical account icons which confused me. I have researched for the solution however, it doesn't work. They told me it is due to the Norton Security system being active while installing an update. However, I remember that during installation, my Norton is uninstalled. So, I followed their steps such as uninstalled the update, then restart the computer to install the update again without installing any anti-virus including Norton. After I had done that, the result is still the same. So, right now, I need to know how to get rid of 2 identical account icons?

This might be a easy step in solving account problems under limited account category. But for deleting administrator accounts it sometimes look difficult. Well according to your question there will 2 accounts on the menu when both are active administrators. Probably the system administrator or inbuilt administrator was not active in windows XP but in vista the account icon was hidden in general, at the time of installation you entered the name when it asks. The created account was nothing but the administrator account of desired name other than in built. If you want to maintain only one account then sign in as administrator and delete the other account.
The another way was click on control panel go to administrator tools and after click on computer management there you can find the users. In that on clicking you will find all the accounts of administrators and standard users. Then you can manually remove the accounts. You can see all the users with their type of categories like administrators, users and other.
In windows XP we can enter in to the computer management and we will see the Local users or groups, but in Windows Vista only ultimate version has complete control and in other you wont see the Local user or group options..
Don't remove the in built (Default) administrator.
