Follow up to pedophile substitute teacher incident - arrest & school response!

I posted a thread a few days ago about a local substitute teacher, who was determined to have been video-filming up the skirts of little, second-grade girls. The details of the incident can be found in the thread titled "Kiddie Porn-Sub Teacher-Second Graders ... Unbelievable!"

To those of you who did read/respond to the other thread, you're gonna' want to read this update, as it chronicles the school district's response to the incident.

- First of all, the self-admitted pedophile fled the scene, moved out of his home, and skipped town.

- The police charged him, in abstentia, with "Voyeurism of a minor child", and issued an A.P.B. (all points bulletin).

- The fugitive pedophile, Robert Ashley, was arrested in Colorado (a bordering state), and is awaiting an extradition hearing, to be returned to face trial in our state.

Now here's where the story impacts every parent of every child in the nation.

- The local media has been hammering this story, and the spokespeople for the school district.

- Local parents of school-aged children wanted to know where else this pedophile had taught, to determine whether or not their child might have been taped, and if any such images of their children had been uploaded to the internet.

- THE SCHOOL DISTRICT (initially) REFUSED TO APPRISE THE PUBLIC WHAT OTHER SCHOOL'S HE HAD WORKED AT. The pedophile had worked for the district for approx.
3 years! He had substituted at several different schools.

The spokespeople for the school district responded that his employment record was part of his personell file, and was therefore PRIVATE. Oh my gosh, the public was rabid at this news. A couple of days later, the district did release this information, and agreed to send a notice out to parents of children who the pedophile had been in contact with.

So, my questions to you are:

1. What are your thoughts about the school district protecting the privacy of the pedophile -- yet again?

2. Should the school district have immediately responded to the public outcry to know where else he worked in the school district? Should they have done so publicly, or privately to only the affected children's parents?

3. What action(s) would you take if you found out that he had been a substitute teacher for your child, but where there is no knowledge of him having been taping your child's classroom?

- Do you let it go, hoping that your child was not
filmed?

- Will you talk with your child about the teacher?

- Will you wait for any report following a full
interrogation of the pedophile?

- Will you contact your local school district to
determine if they are as willing to protect the
pedophile's privacy as our local school
officials were?

- Will you ask your school district to list the
names & photo's of all their staff, so that you
as a parent, can cross-check the list with your
state sex-crimes registry?
