We know the death of the world-renown Luciano Pavarotti has resulted to a dirth in real classical talent nowadays.

Lately, a national artist, a pianist toured the different schools in our country to give a piano concert FREE to all students and personnel of the different schools.

The event did not turn out as expected in most schools because students were noisy and restless as the pianists played Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Bach, and Mozart pieces.

Many students had sneaked out and this caused the anger of school admin for it was indeed embarrassing to be seeing people from the audience going out while the artists were doing the piano renditions.

It made me think that maybe, classical music is no longer appealing to young people today.

What do you think? Do you think the youth should be given proper training and education so they can learn to appreciate the finer things in life? Should schools force this on their students?

I agree with you that schools need to instill the students to know more about classical music otherwise there will be gradually no market for the wonderful classical music.

Nowadays the majority of young people love pop music and are keen in pop music, which seems to be the leading kind of music they prefer.

It would be better if they can both enjoy the pop and the classical to make classical music go on and on.

You need a very good music teacher to make these students see the value of classical music.

That's absolutely true, friend. Without a good teacher, it would be difficult for them understand it and that is really very important for them. Thanks for your further response.

I am ready to go to work in my office. Nice chatting with you, friend. Bye for now.

I still listens to classical music. They are just my favorite. Now that Luciano Pavarotti is dead, comes the new in the scene whom I think will take his place, Paul Potts. You should watch him in youtube how an ondinary cellphone seller becomes a millionaire for being like Pavarotti.

yeah I think schools should be more serous about music class. They should promote classical music and not just doing nothing. When I was in highschool we have a music class but barely do nothing.

So it best if schools should be doing its job. Classical music is amazing and I think it is worth it to learn. I still listen to some classical music and it felt great everytime I listen to it.

I listen to it as much as I can. I am currently listening to it via radio. It is so soothing. Next Sunday, I get to go hear a live symphony orchestra. I don't know about the appealing part....it is what it is. In the US the national endowment for the arts and the state versions try to promote classical music in schools by paying to have nationally known groups to tour to schools. also, there appear to be more exposure to young kids than there was when I was growning up. But, yes, it is still a very small minority. I do not believe schools should force this on their students; they should expose students to classical music, as well as dance, or jazz, or rock, or modern art, etc.

Classical music has it's own place. New generations want everything like a fast food. But if we inform them properly gradually they shows their interests in the classical music. Indian classical music has unique place in the minds of people. Still it is the base of learning and practicing music. For live performances of classical music youngsters have more interest and is increasing day by day.

It's not proper to force it on them. The music is immortal and soon youngsters will turn to it as it is the human tendency to ask for something new everytime.

Uhmm...I'm not a fan of classical music too. However, when there are concerts, I know how to behave, and try to have fun and learn from it too. Recently, at a classical music concert, we were told that classical music can actually make one more intelligent and is a good prevention for degenerative disease in old age like Alzheimer's disease....he, he...I promised myself that I'd buy CD's of Mozart and Rachmaninoff when I grow old because of its beneficial effects to old people. I guess it's worth giving it a try. As to our young people, I guess it's difficult to force them; maybe include it in music appreciation classes and in courses requiring appreciation of these finer things.

I don't think forcing would work. Also training and education wont be useful in this situation. Its really the environment around the younger people. They don't see that fine classical music playing around much. So they don't know its value. But may be if they grow a little older they will know why it is said "Old is Gold"

Yeah, i still do listen to classical music. I love listening to it. When i listen to classic music, a soothing feeling flows through my veins that alleviates my soul. It made me relaxed and it wipes away all the troubles and anxieties in me.

I agree with you, right now i am already thinking of sending my daughter to schools of classical music or any arts related to music but definitely not the loud one. LOL. I don't like listening to it. It just give me the headache plus it breaks my ears.:)
