Do you think this is a good thing or just another sellout?

The '96 reunion was a laugh because they were blatently doing for the money and were honest about it - calling it the Filthy Lucre tour. I remember them going on Top Of The Pops 11 years ago doing several of their old songs - Johnny Rotton (Lyden) was already in full Uncle Johnny, scary punk kiddie entertainer mode but watching it back (I taped the show) they were pretty good.

By the 2002 "Silver Jubile of punk" re-reunion they were getting bad reviews from jounalists who'd been writing about punk for years, but Mojo's got a responce from somebody at the gig insisting it had gone well.

Nice one !
They should do it every 5 years or so !
I'm awaiting the start of the ticket-sales (tomorrow at 9 GMT), and if I get lucky I will come all the way from Belgium to Brixton Academy to see them...

It'll be like every other concert you go to : you never know in front if it's gonna be good or rotten, but hey : If it's good you can say you've been there....

And BTW, I'll probably get never so lucky to have a chance to see a reunion concert of one of my other favorite bands .... or it should be in heaven ;-)

wel The Pogues seem to be getting together every Christmas so why not?;-)

Hope you got lucky with the tickets - I've heard they were pretty popular. (not quite Led Zep levels though)

Was listening to Never Mind the.... yesterday and The Great Rock And Roll Swindle today and their both prety good.

The first album holds up more - God Save The Queen and Anarchy in the Uk still sound great/important if you turn the sound up and really listen.

but The Great Rock And Roll Swindle has some good songs on it amongst the messing arround and attempts to shock.

The first version of Belsen Was A Gas (the live one) manages to work as a powerful piece of music in an Iggy Pop hard punk vein, as well as being bruitally offensive
- in fact the most offensive part of the song is the crowd chearing/aplauding like it's just another joke from The Pistols - no wonder Johnny quit after that concert.

meant to add - and the band still have the power to get people outraged after all this time - it's all kicking off on another forum re. whether they were a waste of vinyl and if punk had any artistic merit. So they must have done something right :-)
