As a reader/ As a writer  | |  Okay, say I buy a book and I finish reading it, and someone else would like to read it after I get done with it--is that ethical? Now as a reader I feel I bought the book, I can do with it what I want. I can lend it out or I can keep it on a shelf collecting dust or I can throw it away. It is mine.
Now as a writer, if a reader buys my book I get paid for that purchase, but I do not get paid every time someone reads THAT book.
Now, as you know I bought a book from one of my writer friends. I mentioned to her that I was going to let my neighbor read it, and she told me it was not ethical for me to do that.
Now you tell me... How many books have you read that belonged to someone else? How many books have you bought at the Good Will? The author of the book does not get a second sale of the same book as it goes from reader to reader.

| | | 32. jointoearn (1167) | 3 years ago |  depending who will want to borrow from me. if it is a close friend or relative why not. and if i can trust the book to that person it is just fine. as long as the book returned me in good condition. and i am reallyd one reading with that book i will not be feel bad if they want to borrow it and i will in fact feel happy that someone is interested on the book i am readnig. won't you feel about that. but mostly now i don't just lend it. since i have learned that people won't return the book. after being too happy to lend it since i thought that they will have fun reading the book. but i didn't have fun waiting for the book to be returned. after two years on waiting. i just asked the person to return it. and i tried that person for months for the book. and now i have it. i will not again lend it to people. after being nice and done everything for them they should know how to return it. i have bought and have paid for it. i should keep it.
