Spider killing? |
|
Do you kill spiders everytime you see one in your house, or at least try to? I usually leave them alone unless they are invading my space too much by being somewhere that is very inconvenient or just plain too close. Otherwise I figure they are good to have around since they kill bugs. I don't have a lot of bugs but if the spiders can get most of the ones I do have, that is fine with me. I read somewhere that a person is never more than, I think it was, 3 feet from a spider. So just out and out killing is useless anyway. So do you let them be like me?

1. terrych (587) | 3 years ago | YEs, usually I let them be, specially beacuse they eat bugs, but whe they get so close, and they are big I have to say that I aske them to leave, and if they do not do it, I kill them or take them out!
With fire ants, I just kill them, because I am allergic to them!

3. talisman (1117) | 3 years ago | Do I kill spiders everytime I see them? Yes and no. The daddy long legs that just sit in their webs in the corners I leave alone for a bit, but the webs get huge if they're left too long. If I see other types of spiders, though, yes, I kill them. I'm scared of spiders most of the time and I don't want them around. I know there's many I can't see (although, I could have done without hearing what you read, lol), but seeing one and knowing that it's still around (if it was left alive), scares me a lot. I get freaked out. So, those I kill or have my husband kill if I'm too scared to do it myself. I'd rather have bugs than spiders.

stealthy (2888) | 3 years ago | I'm not particularly scared of them, but don't like them on me which has happened a few times. So if they get somewhere where there is a good chance of actual contact, then they are in trouble.

4. speedy1279 (1490) | 3 years ago | I know spiders are suppose to be good for getting rid of other bugs, but I'm with the other person who said "I would rather deal with the other bugs". I have Arachnophobia so I don't do well around spiders. When I see them in the house if I can get to my bug spray then I will kill them if not I will have someone else do it for me. Then I will have goose bumps for hours afterwards. I have been like this my whole life. There was one time when I was a kid that I had one of those really big house spiders in my bedroom. It was around bedtime and it came out of know where and I screamed. Well when I did it ran and hid behind my stuff where I couldn't see it. My parents came running and had to search for the spider until they killed it because I refused to go to bed until the spider was dead. It took my parents until almost 1 in the morning to find and kill the spider. So I am sorry, but if a spider gets in my house it will end up dead. Oh and I really didn't need to know about the 3 feet thing. LOL! I probably won't sleep tonight now.

stealthy (2888) | 3 years ago | I'm sorry if I have cost you sleep. The vast majority of spiders are harmless to humans. I used to catch tarantulas when I was in elementary school and sell them to the science department at a nearby university.

5. cblackink (807) | 3 years ago | I have a terrific fear and hatred of them, so I kill them every time I see them. Some of them are very poisonous if they bite you, and since I'm not sure which ones, I kill every one I see in my home. If they want to live outdoors, fine, just not in my home. About two weeks ago, I had a very large black spider in my shower, while I was trying to bath. Apparently, it was clinging to the shower curtain and dropped down as soon as I got in the shower. I totally freaked out and killed it on the spot.

stealthy (2888) | 3 years ago | In the U. S. the there are mainly two spiders that are possible harmful to humans, the black widow(red hour glass on it stomach and rest very black) which are quite small and the brown recluse which is larger and not as poisonous. When I was in the Army I had a spider drop down on my shoulder when I was in the shower, it got away.

| 6. evalowrain (27) | 3 years ago | I have a very simple bug policy: I go into their world, I'm fair game. They come into my world, they're going to die - unless my husband is there to escort them out. Or, unless their crickets, because supposedly, it's bad luck to kill crickets.
I also don't kill lady bugs or beetles, unless they look too close to a cockroach.
Everything else: Totally squashable if it's inside my house.

stealthy (2888) | 3 years ago | I'm glad I don't think crickets are lucky because I kill them if they get in the house because they make such a noise and because they will eat your clothes. Lady bugs are beneficial, so if I find any in the house which is almost never, I try to put them outside.

7. Jshean20 (8020) | 3 years ago | Well the thought of a spider crawling all over my body as I sleep gives me the chills! If I see one in my house I don't kill it, I try to pick it up gently with a kleenex and out it outside, I wouldn't sleep at nigght if I let them stay in the house.

stealthy (2888) | 3 years ago | Sorry to tell you but for every one spider you see there are many times that that you don't. I don't know what the ratio is but it is high.

9. coffeeshot (2479) | 3 years ago | Yeah I let them be. They're more scared of us than we are of them. Of course if it's a dangerous spider like a red-back then it is important to kill them as they pose a threat to any people/animals/kids that are around. If it's a spider like a Huntsmen I just leave them. In fact they eat all the cockroaches and creepy crawlies! To be honest people who scream and then proceed to attack spiders with a spray can of chemicals really annoy me. For goodness' sake it's only a spider!
