Actors confimed so far for Star Trek 11

Although I love star trek I think that this is getting a bit silly now. If they absolutely had to make a new star trek movie, they should have set it later with possibly either the DS9 crew or Voyager Crew. Taking it back to before the first movie is going to be a bit random, sort of like the enterprise series in movie format and im not entirely convinced that they can pull it off.

The enterprise series as far as im aware hasnt actually taken off very well here in england and i wonder if this movie will go the same way. Obviously die hard fans are going to go and see it purely because its star trek but newer fans may find it a bit strange to see the films jumping back and forward.

Saying that, they just about managed to pull it off with star wars so they may manage it here. I'm going to wait and see before I give final judgement on it.

Nothing against the original Star Trek, but I think it would have been better to do a "tweener" movie. That is...a movie showing a differnt crew between Star Trek and NG. Then they could have built off of it a new series. Enterprise went too far back to interest anyone. A Voyager movie would be good, but they are already back in the Alpha Quadrant. I could also see a movie "pre-voyager" That once again would allow for more sales and more syndication of the Voyager series that is still a big hit on Spike TV. DS9 was always too soap opra-ish to make a good movie.
I agree that a post NG would also be good to lead into a new series. Star trek does not have to die. If they can pull the story off and max out the special effects they may have a winner. One that could draw in more new fans. A shotty plot or half way SE will ruin the franchise. At least that is my take on it.
