Do You Still Believe in Myths?

My children found out around the age of 10 - 11 but they still tried to have me believe that they believed LOL! They found out from friends. My older children said they wish they still believed because it seems so different now than then.

I dont think I ever belived in them to be honest I belived in many other things but santa was a person that gave you presents at your parents's work place and easter bunny well we dont have that. I started reading very young and I used to cry when I was reading a lot of the stories. So one day my father sat me down and explained to me (I was about 5 and by that age I was reading as good as he was) and he told me that the stories a not always real. Which was a great relive for me.

I still believe in fair relationships and fair marriage; I've been through some major crap and I've seen some from other horrors done to male friends/family and social groups. So I'd say thats believing in a myth, at least somewhat.

Now for the less morbid response. Other myths I didn't really believe in but played along. In the end I was able to find out what things were. Especially since mom and dad were not good ninjas (yep caught them in the act! XD)

No...I stopped believing in honest politicians a long time ago....:)

Actually I was fairly young when I quit believing in all of those things. I may have been about six or seven.

I do not yet have any children, but I have 11 nieces and nephews. My mother did not lie to us and I know that my sisters do not lie to their kids. Besides, it does not make sense to go out and spend your hard earned money on gifts and then give credit to a stranger.

What do yo mean, Stop believing? I still believe!! That someone is the tooth fairy, or the Easter Bunny, or Santa Claus.

Actually I don't think any of my grandchildren do believe in any of these myths, but they go along with when it is brought up. The older ones always go along for the sake of their younger siblings. I think that is admirable of teenagers.

I had five children and i never taught them to believe in any myths..They always knew i was the tooth fairey,i was santa,and The easter bunny was just a logo...I do not know why but we just never stressed that.They grew up happy and taught their children the same way,so i suppose they did not suffer from the lack of fairey tales.LOL

Do my children still believe? What about me? I have no children, but I still believe in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny.They are all symbols of love, so they must be real.

This is so funny cause me and my 9yr old just had a discusion about this yesterday. He knows that all that stuff isn't real, but my little ones they are 3 and 4 of course don't. He said something about it not being real, I told him that I understood that he didn't beleive anymore, but it wouldn't be fair to take that away from his brother and sister. I think it's important for little ones to have that memory of putting out cookies for santa. When they get older and ask I will tell them the real story of Saint Nick, and how everything came about. Until then I'll let them beleive, besides it just as fun for me as it is for the kids!!!:)

It seems as if there are less and less people believing in these myths. I contribute it to the bitter and cynical age we live in. For example, my niece stopped believing in Santa Claus (it was pretty much the only thing she believed in) around age six. I approximately stopped believing in Santa Claus and such around the same age as she did.
