Put her on the potty every half hour, too much could just frustrate her and get upsetting for you both. She will have accidents thats fact, just pick her up and put her on the pot, don't tell her off and make lots of fuss when she does do it. good luck

princessmom1011 (326) | 3 years ago | Thank you, yes definetly when you are going to be home for a few days to a week is when this should be done thats why im starting it today i have no plans till the weekend so im hoping we can accomplish something from now till then, i was putting her on every 5-10 min and she was jsut getting too annoyed with me so per your suggestion ill bump it up to a half an hour, and of course i expect accidents here and there especially the first day and im hoping they'll dimenish each time thanks for your input i really appreciate it

2. marciaj (804) | 3 years ago | Every 5 or 10 minutes seems a little too often. I would say base it on her. If she has been drinking a lot and hasn't gone in a while, take her more often. If she just went, you can probably wait an hour. Also, read her signals. If she is getting visbly annoyed back off a little.
I understand that you don't want her to have accidents, but they can actually be helpful in the training process. First, she feels the wetness and how uncomfortable it is, so it will help motivate her to use the toilet next time. Next, have her change herself and clean up the mess (go behind to make sure she did a good job), and that will show her how much more work accidents are and motivate her to use the toilet next time. Finally, accidents contributes to her independence, which is what potty training is really all about. She will learn to recognize the signs when she has to go and get herself to the bathroom, rather than simply going because you are telling her to. In the long term, she will have greater success if she is involved in the process this way, as opposed to having her in the bathroom so often that she never has the opportunity to take the initiative.
