Shopping Carts -- Do you return them? |
|
We all go to the local store and use shopping carts. After you put your items in your car, do you return the cart to the store, put it in the cart corral in the parking lot or do you just leave it where it is?
I usually try to park close to the corral where the carts go. If I don't, I try to leave it somewhere that there are a lot of other carts.
What do you do?

1. hip2bemom (2358) | 3 years ago | It depends if I go to the store and I have my 4 year old daughter with me I will just push the car up above the car as I am not going to leaver her in the car while I go put the cart away unless the cart corral is right beside my car. If I have gone to the store alone and I am not in a hurry I will push the cart over to the corral unless it is really cold outside then I will leave it in front of the car.

I do the same thing. Especially if the wind is blowing. That wind cuts right though me. It makes me feel like my parka, sweatpants under my jeans and high boots are made of burlap. It gets so cold!

2. paidreader (2491) | 3 years ago | I always return my cart, even if I have to go back to the front of the store to do it. It is so annoying to move a cart out of a parking space before you park. If you park next to one, the person parking next to you could bump the cart and damage your vehicle, so I try parking well away from any loose carts, whenever possible.

I have two cars: One truck I use for my horses and a plastic Tupperware box on wheels AKA a Saturn. When a cart hits my car, it just bounces off. My truck sits up high, so the only thing that might get hit is the rubber black strip near the bottom of the door.

|
|
paidreader (2491) | 3 years ago | My old truck can take the dings and sdcratches, but hubby's new truck gets parked well away from any other vehicles, lol.
| |
|
|
Sacrificialclam (4467) | 3 years ago | My mother was the same way. She'd park at the very back of the lot away from all other vehicles to keep from getting hit.
When we'd come out, 9 times out of 10, some other driver parked directly beside her, just to hack her off

3. casablynn (132) | 3 years ago | I never just leave my cart randomly in the lot. I either place it in the nearest cart corral, take it back to the store or give pass it along to the employees who are out there retrieving carts. They're usually more than happy to take it off my hands.

4. zukepr (11799) | 3 years ago | I too try to park close to a corral so I can easily return the cart It just makes the cart fetchers job easier especially when its cold or rainy outside There have been a couple of times that the store was super busy and I had to park way out in the back 40 and I had the kids with me I dont like leaving my kids in the van while I walk halway across the parking lot to return the cart So I push the cart out of the way up against a light or a up on a curb so that its not out in the way of other cars. It always bugs me,ok it pisses me off, when I come out of the store to find that someone has just pushed a cart into the side of my van GRRRR~!!

I hate that too. I was at Kroger yesterday, and parked next to the corral. Some idiot STILL put a cart behind my car even though I was parked right by it. The extra 2 steps and that cart could have been where it belonged.

No way!! There is no excuse for that I would have been totally chapped!

Sacrificialclam (4467) | 3 years ago | If I knew who did it, I would have probably thrown something at them.
I did have some idiot who SAW me backing up and*still* put a cart behind my car. I got out and loudly asked why. His answer? He could not get around me b/c I was backing out. I rolled my eyes and asked why he couldn't want 4 seconds? He was in a hurry so he thought he'd make me wait. What an idiot.

zukepr (11799) | 3 years ago | maybe he was in a hurry because the shortbus had just pulled in the lot to pick him up! LOL What a jerk! I would have had to eat him LOL

5. oneandonemakesix (24038) | 3 years ago | Not always, sometimes we do, many times we don't if its bad weather, or cold I try to find a spot where they won't roll into another car
Or I make one of my kids walk it back.
Its an annoying thing to have to try to walk a cart someplace when you've got kids in the car and even with the car in sight, I always think the worst.

My mother usually made my sister or me do it so she could sit in the car. I think that's why some people have kids: Free labor.=)

I know when I worked as a waitress many, many moons ago, I loved when a patron would leave and their silverware, plates, cups and trash were neatly in one area of the table. It made it so much easier to bus when we were short handed and the waiters/waitresses had to bus their own tables.

8. MariaD (2373) | 3 years ago | Yes, I return shopping carts. It depends. When I put the groceries to the car by myself, I return it to the nearest cart corral in the parking lot. When there's an assistant from the grocery store helping us out in putting the groceries, we leave the cart with the assistant for its return. There are stores in the Philippines that have no cart corrals and when out in the parking lot, I leave it somewhere that there are a lot of other carts are in, where it is safe away from bumping into other vehicles.

Sacrificialclam (4467) | 3 years ago | There is one store like that here in Arkansas that I go to. They don't have one. This is one of those stores that doesn't advertise, you have to bring your own grocery sacks or pay for theirs and the checkers dont' bag your items you have to. The costs are incredibly cheap as you have to do all the work yourself, but there is no cart return there. When I go there, I alawys put it on the sidewalk closest to the door so whomever wants a cart can get it easily before they go inside.

9. dancingmooney (812) | 3 years ago | I always put the cart back in the corral. It drives me nuts when people put the cart somewhere near the corral, but don't take the time to put it inside... and then the wind picks up and the cart goes rolling across the parking lot and perhaps hits a car or something... Lol... it's funny to think of, but it's just kinda one of those things to me... if you're going to take the time to put it 'anywhere' might as well put it where it goes, it'll take just as much energy to do that than to leave it some random place... Lol. ;)

Sacrificialclam (4467) | 3 years ago | I know the feeling. I hate that too especially when I'm parked near one and I have to move the cart out of*my* way to back out of my spot. People amaze me by not wanting to take the extra 2 steps and put the cart where it goes!

| 10. truthonlyplease (44) | 3 years ago | Yes. I always try to return the cart and have taught my daughter to do the same. If we're parked close I let her take it back. If we're far away we both take it back. Occasionally my physical health gets the way of this good deed, in which case I'll try to angle the cart in a way that it won't roll.

Sacrificialclam (4467) | 3 years ago | I know a lot of people have the same problem as you with their health or a condition not letting them. It's bad enough having to park half a mile away from the front door, I can only imagine what it's like walking that distance twice.
