do you buy christmas tree every year? when are you going to put yours at home |
|
well i wonder if you really buy always a new one every year? Well i think in States they buy a real tree and put it outside and decorate it. well it's what i say in one movie. well i am not so sure. Well are you going to buy one or you going to use the old one. What are the things you put on your christmas tree. Who decorates the christmas in your home. do everyone in your home help in decorating. DO you like decorating your home. what are the things you put up in your homes to give it a christmas feeling. when do you put. have you put up any decoration as early as now. well hope you would say something about your habit. Well in the philippines when i was a boy, during the start of ber seasons. the local radio starts to play the christmas songs. but now they don't unlike it's december already. during those days. we put up our christmas trees as early as september. but now we just wait for december. we are not really too excited about it. and people now here don't do that early anymore as decades ago. well maybe because of the difficulty of life now. they don't look forward in celebrating it early. well what about in your country.

1. alstaxidermy (198) | 3 years ago | I live in the US, and we buy a tree evry year, bring it in, and decorate. we usually go the day after thanksgiving (the last thursday in november every year) and get the tallest one our house will fit, and then everyone who is around helps to decorate when we get home! We always stick it in the front window so everyone cansee how proud we are of it and turn the lights on eveyrnight while we are out in the lving room with the tree! We take it down after the first of the year (I have always been told it is bad luck to take it down before the new year, though I don't knwo why) and then we bid the poor crispy thing good buy! I am excited and looking forward to the holidays! Merry (early) Christmas to you!

bluewaves (2169) | 3 years ago | well we still use the old christmas tree made of plastic. we don't really put down the christmas tree in december. it even last till the whole january. and even february. before we put it down. we keep it to be used on next christmas. well we don't take it down early because we want to the christmas decoration to stay longer because it's too lovely to take it down so early. and because it took some real hard work to put all those decorations and we want to enjoy our hard work longer.

2. mamasan34 (4100) | 3 years ago | I do like to decorate my home for the holidays. I have had an artificial tree for some time. My husband is on deployment in Iraq and it is just easier to use the artificial one that we have on standby when he is gone. I usually put the tree up around the end of November, usually on Thanksiving after dinner and everything is calmed down, we will put the tree up.

3. ladyluna (2495) | 3 years ago | Ah, Bluewaves, a topic near and dear to my own heart.
Many years ago, when my husband and I were just dating, he surprised me (the poor college student that I was) with a Christmas tree, on Christmas Eve. It was perfect in every way. We cooked up popcorn, and used the cranberries in the fridge to make garland. And, cut out snowflakes to decorate that tree. It was magnificent! It was so special to me that he brought me a Christmas tree that I left that tree up 'till February ... when most of it's needles had been vacuumed up.
I do love Christmastime! Of course, now we set up an artificial tree indoors, and decorate the natural trees outdoors with edible bird feed. Hubby helps me set up the tree, and check the lights, but after that it's my gig. I'll decide what theme to follow for the year, based on my overall feeling of the year. I might used a dove theme, or an apple and gold ball theme, etc... Regardless, my great joy is in placing the Angel atop the tree each year. And, of course, it's always a bummer to take all the decorations down.
Oh, and Christmas Carols ... I simply love them! They embody the part of our being's that recognize all that is good: Love, Charity, Family, Understanding, Faith, Compassion ... I could go on and on. But ... I'll accomodate your need to respond to the many other responses about our varied Christmas traditions, and stop here.

bluewaves (2169) | 3 years ago | well actually i like your post no matter how long it may be. actually the longer the better. since you always have a very interesting story i don't really get bored reading it word by word. well actually i read it more than once. so i could be sure i understood well what you wrote.
well it was a nice story about your hubby when you were still dating. that's why you have a good memory and you like christmas so much.
Well in our home we use christmas tree made of plastic. that's why it's durable. that's what mostly people use. that's why we don't really buy a new one every year. we just use the old ones. especially we don't have that much money to buy every year so we buy one the durable that will last for years. in my whole life. we only had two christmas tree. well the first one we threw it away. the second one was bought 9 years ago. and we don't feel the need to replace it.
Well i like christmas decorations. but i am not the one who that. well mostly it's my mon or my siblings. they like doing that. though we are not really that good in decorating.
Well here christmas lantern is popular here. well that's it. thanks for posting.

ladyluna (2495) | 3 years ago | Hi Bluewaves,
What is a Christmas Lantern? Perhaps we in the US have a similar tradition, but call it something else.
Thanks!

4. writersedge (4418) | 3 years ago | When I was young, we went to a Christmas tree farm. They asked what kind of tree we wanted. We wanted a balsom. They smell very beautiful. So the tree farmer showed us where the balsom's were. We walked around and found the best looking one that would fit in our livingroom without being too high for the ceiling. Then the farmer chopped it down for us. We dragged it back to the truck while my Dad paid for it, so much money per foot (unit of measure in the states). Then he put it in the back of his truck. We brought it home. He cut the bottom flat and put it in a tree stand. We decorated it with lights on a string, then garland, ornaments, and finally tinsel. We had an angel that lit up on top.
Late on, my Dad bought some land and we got a tree from our own forest. The tree wasn't as nice as the one from the tree farm. Usually one side grew into another tree and was bad. That side we had face the wall. When we had treefarm ones, we put them in the window. But ours we put against the wall. If it was really bad on 2 sides, then in a corner. I'm US in norhtern NY state.
I like the idea of having a small tree outdoors to decorate. Most people where I live decorate outdoor trees with lights or their houses on the outside. We have many hours of darkness in the winter, all the lights help us to see, esp. in the country where streetlights are only at the 4 corners or on main roads in populated areas. Nice topic, thanks. Take care.

5. williamjisir (13058) | 3 years ago | I had an American colleague as well as a best friend in real life. I still remember one year when Christmas came, she went to the plant market and bought a real Christmas tree together with some decorations to be hung in the tree with some beautiful colorful tiny lights and it was placed in the sitting-room making the room very romantic, which was a nice enjoyment.

7. monkeywriter (1950) | 3 years ago | Well I'd say yes we always get a tree. Normally we put it up just like 2 weeks before Christmas. My sister and me both have December b-days so we normally get the tree around the inbetween time of our birthdays so like around the 13th or a bit sooner. We are moving out on our own so i dont know if we will get a big tree if any but probably still the same time.

8. nengs10 (3137) | 3 years ago | We don't buy Christmas tree every year. We have our own. And we bought that when I was just 10 years old. My parents would just improvised it. They would decorate it with more lights. They put more colors to it. As it looks so vivid, Christmas is truly in the air. We usually put on our Christmas tree every December 1. I'm so excited for Christmas.

10. isaiah12 (398) | 3 years ago | When my daughters were younger I had a fake tree we would use each year. But the last couple years we have gotten a new real tree each year. I love the aroma it brings to the house. We all help decorate the house for Christmas. It is a fun way we can celebrate the season together. We will put on music while we decorate.
