Latest survey says youngsters working in IT spend lot of money in hot drinks..

first of all let me tell you that alcohol is not hot drink but is hard drink. It is not just the IT or BPO employees that consume alcohol, it is that any person who has money and willing to spend money on alcohol will do it. As far as research is considered taking alcohol regularly in small doses acts as medicine for the body and this was also given in one of the surveys.

I think it is a well know fact that the more money you make the more lavish is your life style. I donot quite get what the hot drinks mean ..if we are talking about more and more booze that is a horse of a different colour and i would have concerns there. Thanks for sharing this was different and something i knew nothing about

I wonder why working in call centers is always associated with bad health like smoking, drinking, not getting any sleep, overeating and the likes.

Does the pressure at the workplace drive them into doing such bad habits? According to these agents they need to smoke in order to ease the tension they get from difficult customers. The drinking probably follows the smoking because these young workers influence each other in a bad way, and the overeating could be another reaction to the pressure.

these young guys are loaded with money so they enjoying going out for hoteling and clubing in a group and u know more hoteling is not good at all, specially when u have money and other u r in group

Other thing, as they are working for longer hours and IT job is stressfull and hot drink are considerd to be enegetic, like tea and coffee as they have cafine which is relaxant and keep them on toes for work, so consumption of cofee, specially black coffee is going up.


Sure its not healthy trend and soon we mighr be having that obsity problem as in USA and UK, due to these kind of attitude and food

it is due to the money they are having.
You are right that due to long hours they work, they are
finding it easy to rewind with alcohol.
I am in IT myself and have seen my friends.
Sometime they do it just to show the high status and all.
In ogffice parties i have seen them ending up with 4-5 pegs at least.
But still there are few who can distract themselves away from it.

This trend has increased specially after this BPO culture have come to our country.Youngsters are getting far too much money in very young age.They might be educated but they are immmature.They are wasting the money but they can't see that there is soo much poverty here.These so called youth are ignorant about there social responsibility & waste so much money in just drinks & enjoy which can provide meals to so many poor for so many days.This type of thinking requires a level of maturity which these don't have.

Yes,many young IT people spend money on Hard Drinks - Beer,Whiskey etc . But young people in other Activities-Banking,Advertising,Marketing,Fashion etc too spend money on Drinks .
It is not limited to IT people .
And not all IT people are heavy drinkers .

All I can say is that this is the phase.Nature has it's own way of choosing the best and culling.It has been there since the world started.

Money has got nothing to do with drinking- if you notice its prevelant in wither very low societies where there is lot less money or in high societies where money flows freely. Drinking is a choice that a person makes for huimself. My hubby is in army and my brother is in IT both of them do not drink not even occasional sip. They do not drink because they have chosen not to -not because I do not like or my sisiter -in -law des not like. Its entirly an inmdividual's own decision.
