Curly Hair |

I have naturally curly hair. When it's very humid, like it is this afternoon, my hair tends to do whatever it wants to. No amount of hair spray, gel, mousse or combing is going to do any good. I had grown my hair out until it was almost at my waist when it was wet and the curls stretched out. Then when I had surgery, some of the medications and anesthesia just fried and frizzed it. I was so sick when I got out of the hospital and saw how awful my hair had become. So I had to get it all cut off and start over growing it out. Now it's at that in between stage where it's just kind of doing what it wants to all the time.
What do you think your worst trait is? Is it physical or personality related? Mine would have to be my hair, and my temper.

1. CurlyRed (3474) | 3 years ago | As my name implies, I too have curly hair, lol.
You don't say quite how long it is, but I have found a secret that works really well for me, no matter what the weather.
I buy things like African Hair Oil (it's a lotion that smells like fruit) or even Sunsilk's leave in lotions..
I put it in my wet hair, comb it through and my hai dries in really nice ringlets. It doesnt frizz up except in the night when I'm sleeping, lol..
If the weather is SO bad that it affects my hair even with cream, then I follow the lotion with some gel, comb them both through and then blow dry my hair upside down while holding it all close to my head. It keeps the curl without letting it frizz up and the gel gives a little more control.

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | Those are good tips. My hair used to curl in ringlets. I wish it still did. It has just enough curl now to give me fits. I hope that when it grows out a bit more that I will get the curl that I want without all this fuss. I try in the mornings, but by noon, it's all over my head and just looks dumb and really unprofessional in my opinion.

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | Fuzz is no fun! I got my cut just a bit, not the length, but had some layers put into it to try and help it lay a bit better until I get to the next length stage. I'm also using a wet to dry straightner on a very low setting to tame the wildness a little.

2. kiobug (598) | 3 years ago | I think my worst traits are my nose because people think I am armenian (which isnt a bad thing) when im not and my worst personality trait is being easily annoyed.: )

byfaithonly (6302) | 3 years ago | Hey, maybe we're related - my nic name is 'Sky Slope' in reference to my nose:( I just tell people that's ok, I have a brother with an even longer nose than me:)

|
carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | I have a very flat, very wide nose. I don't know where it came from. I used to get called piggy when I was in school by some of the meaner kids. As I've grown, I just shrug it off, if someone says something about my nose. But as an 8 year old, it hurt my feelings really badly.

byfaithonly (6302) | 3 years ago | Oh carpenter I know what you mean - things children say can hurt. I on the other hand know where my 'nose' came from. When I was very young my natural mother and her sister (my aunt) used to say I had my father's nose. I was always trying to figure out what he looked like if I had his nose he must have mine (picturing this big man with a little girl's nose). Later when I was older I realized we both, my father and I, have a rather long nose with a little 'hump' from the side they do look like a ski slope:)

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | I know that my nose came from my paternal grandfather. I have also learned that it is a family trait and as an adult, I am proud to look like my grandmother because I feel like she is such a beautiful person...both inside and outside.

3. AmbiePam (15322) | 3 years ago | I have naturally curly hair as well. I used to get so many compliments on it. That was before one of my health problems reared up, and I lost most of my hair. I still get compliments on my hair, but it's a wig now. I think my worst physical trait is my partial baldness (that is SO hard for me to talk about), and my worst personality trait is trying to solve other people's problems when they do not WANT my help!

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | There are so many wigs today that are just gorgeous. One of my mom's friends has really thin hair. She has to wear a wig, and it looks so natural, that I was shocked when she told me!

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | You are talking to the trust queen. That is until you do something to blow that trust, and then I can be quite unforgiving. I know that's a big no-no being a pastor's wife, but when i get hurt, I seem to have this big problem of wanting to shut myself away from the person who hurt me. I don't do confrontation well.
| |
|
|
byfaithonly (6302) | 3 years ago | LOL - we sound very much alike, I too avoid people who have caused me to mistrust them, don't like confrontations, and also hold on to those negative feelings.
I'm not a pastor's wife but it must be very difficult - I know I struggle with that, knowing I shouldn't hold on to those feelings but having trouble letting go. I have learned that when I do manage to let go and move on I feel better.

|
|
carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | I think that trust is something that once lost, must be earned back, and sometimes it takes a long time to do that. Most of us aren't going to deliberately put ourselves into a situation to be hurt over and over again.

5. nengs10 (3137) | 3 years ago | I have curly hair too. But I get to cover it by hair gels, creams, wax, etc. Sometimes, I go out with a hat on my head. Yet I'm proud of it. It looks nice as long as you'll take care of it. Hair is ones crowning glory. It is such an important factor to determine ones personality indeed.

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | I look horrible in hats. My daughter can wear a hat, and look cute and festive and in style. I look like someone planted a bucket on my head. I guess the shape of my face simply isn't made to wear hats. Aw well...such as life.

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | How do you spell Gross? That is the most awful thing I think any woman can do. I love my hair long. I just don't like the in between stages. Do you really think that the crew cut on Brittany was a good thing?

carpenter5 (1879) | 3 years ago | I wash my hair every day. I have a very oily skin and scalp, and if I don't shower and shampoo each morning, you could probably fry an egg on my head. You have no hair...or you have no curly hair?
