Do you know how to change a flat tire on your vechicle? |
|
If you had a flat, would you be able to change it yourself or try and flag someone down to help you if you were alone?Did you ever have to use your spare tire at one time? What was the flat caused from?

1. OreoCookie3 (18197) | 3 years ago | I know how to do it if I had to. There isn't really anything to it. Take off the hub cap, loosen the lug nuts, jack it up, remove the tire.. put the spare on, hand tighten the lugs, let the car down from the jack a bit so the tire touches the ground.. tighten the lug nuts and finish lowering the jack and put your hub cap on. The hardest thing might be to lift the tire and fit it onto the lugs.

peanutjar (2245) | 3 years ago | Lol,you must be strong because if i tried it my "pin"arms would detach from the main body, haha.Im not that strong to crank a nut off and am scared of a jack accidently moving. One of my late uncles friends was fixing something unde his car when the jack slipped and they found him the next day passed away and squished.Thats why im scared of those things.I cant stand when my boyfrined has his big truck on a jack and farting around like theres no problem.I make sure our daughter is in the house under my watchful eye.I know how to change a tire by watching my boyfriend with his power tools, its easier than hand cranking, lol, but id get someone else to do it,too paranoid and weak.:)

arcidy (4976) | 3 years ago | I dont know how to fix a tire. I was driving with my friend from work during the summer and we had a flat tire we had to look at the manuel to fix it he did most of the work but the stupid jack didnt work so we had to call AAA which they came in an about an hour and got it fixed within 5 min. I should learn how to fix a tire because you never know when it will come in handy.

2. goodsign (1883) | 3 years ago | I know how to handle and manage flat tire if it happen to my car. Because in my country, one part of test or exam that I must pass despite theory test, before driving license issued to me is about handle and manage flat tire, alone.
There are many factors that could cause this thing happen; air inlet valve, tire tube(for non-tubeless tire type), sharp object, tear and wear, extreme internal temperature, under pressure tire and sabotage.

peanutjar (2245) | 3 years ago | I feel bad now, lol.I do know how to change a tire and that but am made very petit and not strong enough to crank on the nuts well enough to loosen them, hehe. So im stuck between asking someone and trying to disslocate my arm from my body from trying to crank too hard, hahaha.Oh boy,i suck.:(

zukepr (11799) | 3 years ago | There is a trick to it! I am petite as well At that point I was 5'3" and 120 lbs you need a 4 way lugwrench put it on a nut and then standon one side of the lugwrench while pulling up on the other A couple of good tugs and it should break loose If not spray the nut with WD-40 and let it sit for a couple of minutes then try again

4. miamilady (2495) | 3 years ago | Yeah, I know how to change my tire. I get out of the car, look completely at a loss for what to do, then wait for some guy to come fix it for me.;-)
Seriously, I think I could if I had to, but I really wouldn't want to.
I took drivers ed in highschool (way back when) and we were shown how to change a tire. I have the basic idea.
I did get a flat once and fortunately it was after leaving a batting practice from my daughers softball team. I had the entire team behind me when it happened, so a couple of the dads did it for me.:-)
That's the only time that I can remember my tire going completely flat immediately.
I've had a lot of screws or nails in my tire which cause slow leaks but I was able to get home before the tire was too low.

peanutjar (2245) | 3 years ago | Your very lucky that you can do it yourself rather than asking someone to help do it.I know how to change a tire but am very small and they are too tight for me,but someone here told me to get a 4 way bar and stand on one of the bars while tugging on the opposite. So i will be buying one soon, hehehe.:)
