Today is Columbus Day and a lot of places are closed in Observance of it.

I remember having my wallet over the weekend and even saw it in my van earlier this week, I didn't have the key and it was locked, now today I needed my wallet teh van was UNLOCKED and my wallet gone, I have scoured the house, and the van and our other car to no avail.

So needless to say I've been reporting everything in it lost/stolen and if there was any money in it it sure as heck was not much....

LIfe goes on.

Have you ever had something stolen?

I know what it is like to be violated. Yes, I have had checks stolen and I wasn't even aware of it at the time because I wasn't using my checks. It was before I had a computer and could check online. If I was having trouble with my bank balance I wouldn't write checks until I knew they had cleared the next statement... well I had checks stolen and a bunch were written with my name on the signature. I had to show my signature to prove I didn't write it. I never had to pay any of the checks... but it was a mess for a while.

Hi oneandonemakesix! That is somehow frustrating when you lose something. I lost my wallet before and it was stolen. After a several days, the police returned it to me saying that they have apprehended a thief and my wallet was in his pocket..Good thing all my cards and ID's are there, well of course not the money. But that was alright, at least I have gotten back my driver's license and all the important IDs I have. Take care and have a nice day.

hello mooch

yes, several years ago on New Year's Eve, i was working at a book factory and it was payday of all days and at lunch time that day i went to the bank and i cashed my check because i had plans that night to go out with some friends. so when i got back to work with my wallet, i just left it in my vehicle and locked my doors and went back inside and went back to work.

when i got off work at 3:30 p.m., i went back out to my vehicle and guess what? my vehicle had been broken into. i did not know what to think. the only thing that was missing out of my vehicle was of course my wallet. and there was no doubt about it that somebody that i worked with broken into my vehicle and got my wallet.

but that learned me a lesson, i had to go to get my driver's license back, social security card back, all of that back. but i did have over two-hundred dollars in my wallet that i left in my vehicle that day when i got paid. i should have stuck that money in my pants pocket and went back to work. but no, i left it in my vehicle.

have a wonderful day!

Yes I sure did but it happened about 25 years ago and I think my ex boyfriend did it out of anger. Well who ever it was, broke into my car and stole my radio and tried to get my speakers and broke the console but left them behind... I guess it was too much trouble.
A couple of years ago, someone went into my parents car and stole $300. from their glove box. She was going to take it to the bank the next day and imagine her surprise when she found it was taken.

Sorry to hear about your day Mooch, I hate losing things of importance like a wallet!! lol

I let a guy I was dating take my DC to the ATM to get some money once, I trusted him to get what I told him to and nothing more. Fine, he did that and stopped somewhere on his way home only to come back without the card. He had given someone a ride and somewhere between there and home it disappeared.

It was a Saturday so I called the number and reported it lost. Sunday was Mothers day, and by Monday morning more than a grand had been spent. The police insisted I was trying to scam the bank and I had to go through a lot of trouble because of this.

I had to go to the bank daily and accept calls from the police as well as them stopping by my house out of the blue. Im not sure why they felt I was lying, the only thing I was lying about was letting my bf use it, I wouldnt have gotten my money back! Everything else was the truth.

The bank even produced photos of the 2 women who were using it at an ATM machine, and when I said I didnt know them they thought I was lying. I was really offended, I highly doubt my bf had anything to do with this, we had been together for 5 years and he always did what he said he was and never took more than I told him too. Once the bank gave me my money back, I closed my account with them and took my money elsewhere.

Hope you dont have any trouble like I did!

I once forgot my purse in a fitting room. I remembered at the next store and rushed back. The purse was turned in to the lost and found, minus my wallet with my $100 to buy a maternity outfit with. It was a PITA to get a new license with out the old one. Fortunately I didn't have any debit/credit cards at the time.

I had my purse stolen from my mom's house about 4 years ago. I stay at my mom's to care for her. I had it a little after 7 pm, I remember because I got lottery tickets out of my wallet to check them. I always kept it either on the kitchen table or hung on the kitchen chair. I locked the door about 11:30 before I went to bed. The next morning my purse was gone, so someone (we suspect the next-door neighbors who are thankfully no longer there!) walked right into the house while my mom and I were there, my mom possibly sleeping in the living room or possibly still up watching TV and I was possibly here in the dining room on my computer. They were probably even "peeping" into the windows at me to know it was clear for them to walk in! Luckily, there was very little cash in it but I spent hours the next morning calling to report all my credit cards, debit cards and my checkbook and checks stolen, plus I had to replace my driver's license, insurance cards, SS card...what a headache! No one attempted to use any of my cards but it was still a big pain in the A**! I think whoever took it wasn't bright enough to try to use the cards, they probably just took the few bucks and trashed the purse. The worse part was feeling so violated, knowing someone had come into the house like that and thinking what could have happened if I'd surprised them! My husband was there the next day to put triple locks on all our doors and now they're locked at all times when they never were before unless we were in bed.
