Any tips for successful juicing? | | | | Some years ago I bought a Juiceman Juicer--I've been known to give in to infomercials a few times in my life. Gee, I think I spent over $200. Juicing didn't work out for me at the time, but I think it was because my approach was all wrong. I thought you had to combine many different fruits and veggies in a drink, which gets expensive and time consuming. I combined apple, carrot, celery, beet, lemon, and ginger. This tasted pretty good for a while, but one time it turned out nasty and made me feel ill drinking it. I think the carrots and apples were not very fresh. That turned me off to juicing, and I gave my juicer to my sister when I moved. Well, I'm into juicing again in part because of my interest in eating more of a raw and whole foods diet. I got myself the Hamilton Beach juicer from Walmart.com, and my approach this time is to keep it simple. No need for complex combinations. This makes it easy and inexpensive. I enjoy just orange, or just carrot juice, or combining two or three things. I tried orange and pineapple juice over ice this morning and was amazed how sweet and delicious it is. What tips and techniques help you keep up your juicing routine if you have one? | | | | | | | | | | Bye Acai Maqui is Better Maqui Berry is 4x More Powerful than Acai. | | I have a tendency to make too much juice for one person to consume! So one tip that I have is to make single servings otherwise the juice doesn't taste as fresh. I like to combine veggies for a high oxide juice that usually consists of carrots, celery, spinach, parsley and broccoli. It doesn't taste really great but packs a good punch! When I use fruits I won't comprise on the taste of fresh squeezed orange juice, but do combine apples and pears. One of my favorites fruit juices is nectarines and strawberries. I try to juice once a week. It can be time consuming but so worth the taste! | | | | | | | jules77 (271)

| | I'm curious to know how well strawberries and nectarines juice because they are softer fruits. The same with mangos. I'll have to try it sometime. I agree about not overdoing it and making too much juice at once. I find that the juice of two oranges or one orange and one pineapple wedge is plenty for me. I have combined orange juice and chilled red tea over ice. It dilutes the juice and is fun to drink. | | | | kevere26 (128)

| | When I juice nectarines and strawberries I buy them when they're not ripe. You still get the same amount of juice as ripe fruit. | | | | | | | Bye Acai Maqui is Better Maqui Berry is 4x More Powerful than Acai. Lose Weight and Feel Great. www.MaquiBerryLean.com | add comment | | | |

| | The best time to drink your fresh juices is on an empty stomach—at least half an hour before a meal. This is when your stomach hungers for food and would pounce on anything you consume. When you drink a nutritious healthy fresh juice, your body quickly absorbs all that you consume, wasting nothing. Likewise, when you eat something harmful on an empty stomach, it would all be as quickly absorbed. So choose wisely. You may have been told not to eat a citrus fruit or drink its juice on an empty stomach in the morning, because of its acidicity. I suggest you try a little bit and see if it does give you any problem. But I can assure you that once your stomach is conditioned to drinking fruit and vegetable juices, you should not encounter any problem taking citrus juices. In fact, I feel that the optimum absorption of the vitamin C does wonders to my skin! Step 1: Start with the more common fruits first which are easier on your stomach, like apples, grapes or watermelons. Step 2: After juicing these fruits a few times, and you feel ready to add something new to your menu, try adding carrot juice, celery, cucumber or beet. On lazy days, I like to juice one carrot, one apple, one tomato and one orange altogether. These have all the best ingredients that when combined, provide a synergy of the nutrients which are powerful in keeping me in my peak. And they taste delicious. I try to add at least one or two medium-sized beet root per week in my juicing diet. Beet roots are both powerful cleansers and builders of the blood and kidney, therefore, its consumption should be limited. Once you are familiar with fruit juicing, you may feel ready to move on to vegetable juicing. Vegetable juices are not easy to drink and may be nauseating to some people in the beginning. But their health properties are immense. Step 3: The greener the vegetables, the more nutritionally valuable they are, and less palatable. When you think you are ready for green vegetables, you may add lettuce, spinach, endive and cabbage for a start. Step 4: You are well on your way when you have achieved Steps 1, 2 and 3 above. You may now start to experiment with all other kinds of fruits and vegetables. But first, check out the list of fruits/vegetables and their health benefits; then try out the combination recipes. | | | | | | | jules77 (271)

| | Juicing is one of my favorite things to do. I have so much fun doing it. I've been juicing for about seven years. It's fun, healthy, and actually can be done rather quickly. There are so many combinations that you can use for juicing. It's all about your own personal nutritional needs, goals, and/or just what you have a taste for that day. You mentioned carrots and apples. Yum! That's one of my favorites. I would say just do what tastes right for you. For example, if you find the taste of carrots too bland, then add more apples. Don't be afraid to test-taste along the way. I happen to love carrots, so I make a lot of carrot juice. That's right! Just carrots - nothing else! It's great for the skin, too! Mmmmm!! Also, a good alternative to bottled and processed apple juice is to make straight apple juice. It's so healthy. That also goes for orange juice. Anything that comes out of your juicer is much healthier than a bottled juice from the supermarket. Speaking of orange juice, you can spice it up a little and make a citrus drink. Try oranges, tangerines, and lemons. Very tasty! And it's also good for colds and flus. The vitamin C will help alot. You can also juice grapes, and make delicious grape juice. If you like tomatoes, try some tomato juice. And to change it up a little, add a little apple and/or carrot to the tomato juice. This will sweeten it. Another sure treat is a melon drink. Juice some watermelon, canteloupe, and melons alone or together! Yummy!!! Phenomenal! Well, I have given you some good combinations. As far as routine. Just decide the time of the day that you will juice and go for it. I happen to like to start my day off with a tall glass of carrot juice. And, I also take some along with me to school. I give myself about a half hour to juice and clean. And then, I'm on my way. Once you see the boost in energy and the general feeling of well-being, you'll easily put juicing in your schedule. As for me, Nothing comes between me and my juicing. I hope I helped. | | | | | | | jules77 (271)

| | Your comments are helpful--thanks! I can tell you are very enthusiastic about juicing. That's great! Juicing does give so much energy and good things for the body to heal and feel it's best. Once you've had fresh juice, bottled just isn't the same. I see bottled juice as "dead" juice because of the heat applied to it to give it shelf life. | | | | | | | XanGo Juice 800-919-8004 Satisfaction Guaranteed or money back. | | Most fruits and vegetables don't need to be peeled before juicing, unless they are waxed. Remove skins from apricots, kiwi, mango, pineapple, peaches, papaya, grapefruits and oranges before juicing and Buy ORGANIC juices and fruits whenever possible: remember that you're concentrating everything in a glass of juice, including any nasty pesticides and chemicals you can't see on non-prganic fresh foods. | | | | | | | | | | 5 Foods to never eat Cut down a bit of stomach fat every day by never eating these 5 foods Truthaboutabs.com | add comment | | | |
