Did Dumbo the flying elephant deserve his name?

Must be a play on words. Jumbo, Mumbo are names of elephant commonly used. Disney can't be mean for it would affect the popularity of there character Dumbo...;)

I don't know.I don't think they had the endless meetings back then like the ones the suits have these days.I think Walt named Dumbo himself. Why? I don't know.

Hello there. I think Dumbo is a very cute name. I think 'dumb' here means innocence and foolishness. The innocence and foolishness of the baby elephant makes it very adorable and likable.=D

Dumbo wasn't his name.
His name was Jumbo Jr.
But because of his big ears and such they gave him the nickname Dumbo.
So Disney wasn't being mean by naming him Dumbo, but he was making the characters who made fun of him mean by nicknaming him Dumbo.
