illegals allowed to register to vote in New York  |

 I heard on the news that New York is letting illegals get drivers licenses and register to vote. How can they do this? We do not let convicted felons vote, but yet we are going to let the illegals vote?
Does this bother anyone else?

I had not heard that they were allowed to register and vote though. Do you have a link to this information that you could share?
If they are allowed to register and vote though, that would explain the governor's attitude toward giving them licenses - he wants their votes!

| lilwonders123 (1252) | 3 years ago | New York is just like my state. When you get your drivers license at the DMV they also register you to be able to vote. All you need when you show up at the polls is a photo ID ( the drivers license they got). Illegals are getting the same license everyone else gets so they can use it to vote. There is nothing on their license that says illegal or not able vote.
New York is not the only state with this problem. All the states that are allowing illegals to get drivers licenses are also going to have this problem.All you need to be able to register to vote is a photo ID.
This is also going to effect other states that do not allow illegals to have licenses. If they already have one from a state that allows it, then when they move to another state, all they need is to show their other license to get one for that state. And be able to register to vote in that state as well.
Looks like the illegals will be deciding who our next president is going to be.
This is so wrong. We are being sold out by our own government.

| JaLuvYa (77) | 3 years ago |  I'm from New York State and it makes me crazy. The Governor has clearly lost his mind. If he would have run with this agenda- he would not have gotten elected here. There are organizations and elected officials all over the state trying to fight this. And you are right all they need is a driver's liscense to vote. They are always changing our polling stations and redistricting to divide the minority vote in our area but illegals will be able to vote?
I agree our government is selling us out. Our jobs, our troops, our safety, our imports, and now the vote! It's saddening what's for sale in our country these days.

| speakeasy (1427) | 3 years ago | This weekend, the NY State governor has said that he plans to make two different levels of licensing for drivers: One which meets the "RealID" criteria (documentation of citizenship required) and a license which does not require that proof. Whether this means that the "undocumented" driver's license holders will still be able to vote or not; no one has said. Needless to say the complaints that this will create "second class citizens" of US citizens who do not WANT to provide documentation are already being voiced.
My state does not have this problem. You have to provide documantation to prove citizenship in order to get a driver's licens AND we will not accept a driver's license from another state as "proof" if that state does NOT require the same or more stingent proof. This means that a person who moves to AZ from a state that permits illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses will have to show BOTH the previous states driver's license AND proof of citizenship; while other states drivers, only need to show their previous driver's license to get one in our state. | |

We will do what we have to in order to get the right people voted into office and if that means a candidate getting votes from illegals by allowing them to vote then thats the corruptness of our government. Change it.

I have not lost my mind or my heart. I just believe we can not pick and choose what laws we enforce. If I break the law I have to pay for it. WHy are the illegal immigrants allowed to break the law and get away with it and get rewarded.
It just doesnt make sense to me.

It IS against the law to enter this country illegally. Every country in the world has immigration laws. They enforce theirs. Why shouldn't we enforce ours?

I also think that since the state knows this is happening they should be held accountable for this. This is one reason that illegals keep on comming here. This is the only country they can come to and break the law with no consiquences. The Governor of New York should be fined and held accountable for this. Illegals should not be allowed to get a drivers license let alone vote. Illegals are nothing but criminals and like someone said criminals are not allowed to vote. Before you no it America will be speaking a foreign language and our freedom will be all gone. That is right before you know it everyone who was born an American will be the immigrants. The reason that they are doing this is because the state governments have become so corrupt that they have to rely on the illegals to keep voting them in. They keep offering more give away programs and they keep getting the votes. I am so angry with my home state of Oregon that I have been contemplating moving to Arizona where they have finally seen the light!
