Actor Robert Culp is suing to stop the opening of a proposed exhibit for elephants in a zoo because he says the elephants are mistreated. He sited cramped living conditions and inadequate medical care as the reasons for his suit. Lawyers for the opposing side tried unsuccessfully to get the case thrown out, but the judge is allowing it to stand. Culp, who is 77, was a co-star in the I Spy TV series and has been in many movies.

I have one thing to say..."Bravo Mr. Culp!!!"
I think it is a really great thing he is doing. I have seen TERRIBLE videos of how some elephants are mistreated, and what the men did to the elephants was cruel!
I LOVE elephants, and I am glad that he is doing this to help them. Celebrity or not, he is a great guy!

Okay. Let's say all zoos can't have any elephants, where will they go. Unfortunately these elephants aren't wild enough to survive in the wild. And in some cases there isn't enough wilderness for the elephants to go home to. There should be zoos are set up to look and feel like the African plains. With enough room for these tame elephants to live like their wild sisters and brothers. That way they will live better and the public could still see them. I believe the public, especially children to be able to see elephants. If they see them , they will like them. If they like them, they will want to save them.

I like RC as a man and as an actor, who I loved in the fine tv series starring him and Bill Crosby!
I feel a sense of discomfort when I see any animal in a cage, an elephant or a lion, a dog or a cat.
About zoo's: it is no more time for the mittel-European invention of the so called 'Tiergarten'... they have to be abandoned sooner or later -in my opinion, but I'm not the only one to think so.
Personally, I think that there should be two alternative solution that can substitute this obsolete institution:
1. Bio-Park: a multi-media didactic interactive museum, mainly deviced for children, where the only living animals should be flies and mosquitos in summer...
2. Natural-Parks: reservoirs of free living animals in big natural Parks, without any artificial alteration of climate or landscape, as in a Zoo-Safary.
So I'm happy than there are VIPs who engage these important battles for the respect of bio-diversity and of wildlife.
