When I fall asleep, I wake up throughout the night, because both myself and my husband have restless leg syndrome. Once I drift off to sleep finally, there he goes moving around. Wakes me right up, but he seems to sleep right through it. I also experience this when I am driving. I feel that if I don't move my legs around, or stop and get out of the car, it's going to drive me mad! It bugs me to have to keep moving around, do you have this same issue? How do you cope?

Restless leg syndrome. Many people around the world have this syndrome for different nature of work they do. To get rid of this syndrome you should provide sufficent enrgy to your legs. If you do some leg exersises continously for about 15 minutes a day, the leg veins get dialated, you get good blod supply. Since the blod carries the energy like oxygen and glucose, yourlegs get sufficient energy and you will be out of this syndrome. To get correct exersises, please visit a physiotherapist once.

Doesn't it drive you batty? I have the hardest time falling asleep sometimes. It's so frustrating because I have back and joint problems and it never fails that when I manage to get comfortable and free from pain my legs decide to act up. I often have to get up and walk around and do stretching exercises. Even then I usually can't go to sleep without taking a sleeping pill.

That sounds like me I have the same problems. That is why I don't like riding a long way. because I get restless, and sme times my legs get numb. I had to get up and move around, When you go to bed at night, try putting a pillow under your knees. or between your Knees. I bet you will sleep comfortable, I do this all the time.

Occasionally I do have the same issue, & I can't explain it nor do I know how to treat it. So I am going to check out your other responses.
I don't get restless leg syndrome during the day, it's only at night. In my case it occurs at the earlier part of the night & makes falling asleep difficult.

I have restless leg syndrome also and I know there is something that you can take for it but I can't remember what it is. My doctor a perscription name to me once but due to all my other health problems and medication I am on I was not able to take it at the time. I would look it up online or ask your doctor because I know there is something that you can take to help Restless leg syndrome. Take care!

I so sorry to hear about this condition. I'd actually never heard of it before last year when I saw a commercial on TV for a medication for restless leg syndrome so guess that would be the only 'cure' I would know of for it - although I can't for the life of me remember the name of the stuff.

I think this is yet another thing I suffered from before it even had a name, same way with bulemia. I can't set still and even when I'm laying in bed 'resting' my legs and feet are - MOVING!

Favor, I had those symptoms over ten years ago and I did not know what they were and I did not ask my doctor about them. I just sufffered for a year.
But now they have resurfaced and there is a name and supposedly a med for them which I do not dare to take.
What I do is massage my legs and feet and exercise them and I take some ibuprophen tablets that are coated to protect the stomach lining and a herb called valarian and it does help.
Also vinegar water is good for relaxing muscles. Put a tablespoon of vinegar in full glass of water and sip on it through the day. you can use any type of vinegar but my mom advises apple cidar.

I have heard that the only remedy for restless leg syndrome is some sort of prescription medication. I cared for a lady that had this ..even in her sleep her legs were moving.

There's one prescription medication for it that has possible side effects that include "strange sexual and gambling urges". Is that a hoot or what?

I have suffered with RLS for many years. I had a 'break' of it for about 2 years and then it came back with a vengenance! I now take a potassium tablet as well as a magnesium tablet once a day. No matter whether i have walked all day or sat on my backside the discomfort was there. There are nights that i can go to sleep without any discomfort but even though i take magnesium and potassium tablets daily I do still get the odd night when i am sore. I solve this chop chop by either massaging my legs with normal hand cream or use a massager for a few minutes. There are times that my legs are so sore that the massager (on low) actually feels like i am going over a bruised area! but I just bare it as it does help.

You can take 2 lemons, a orange and a grapefruit.. cut them up and put them in a blender peal and all... then drink the mixture... its a old wives tail for leg cramps and it really works.
