Most "Influential" Conservatives -_- |
|
Well the Telegraph came out with this one. Its a top 100 list broken into segments.
I think its not that accurate. In fact I laugh at some of the entries and some of the orders of who came where.
Here's 1-20 of the conservatives. The rest can be found on the page. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/exclusions/uselection/nosplit/uscons1-20.xml
Leave some comments at the beep. I may dissect some of the list later or some of the entries. Depends on my mood.

1. redyellowblackdog (3989) | 3 years ago | I hardly consider Guilani or Huckabee to even be conservatives. I'd certainly vote for either of them before any of the current democratic candidates for the nomination to be President, but are they conservative? I don't think so.

theprogamer (7518) | 3 years ago | Definitely. The top 20 just makes the list a nice caricature. And other entries elicit a nice "huh!?"

2. djbtol (2369) | 3 years ago | This list was so poorly done that I would be ashamed to put my name to it. Top 100 conservatives and it does not include Rush Limbaugh? You have got to be kidding!

3. bravenewworld (356) | 3 years ago | Thanks for posting these lists, TheProgamer,
I don't understand conservatism to say whether this list makes sense. Giuliani would hardly seem to represent social conservatives.
Bush outside the top 20 while members of his administration are in the top 10, is interesting. Kind of suggests he's a front man for the ideas of Cheney et al, which coincides with what I see. Or he's the fall guy.
Petraeus at number 2 seems laughable. Isn't he just representing what he believes is the correct military approach to the war in Iraq?
Who is Matt Drudge? His influence doesn't seem to have reached me.

theprogamer (7518) | 3 years ago | Yea I was just going "wuh!?" throughout a lot of the list. Though theres like a few (countable on a hand) that are actually worth something, the rest of the list is just bleh...
I also posted the liberal list as a discussion. I'm surprised this one is getting the posts (so far)
Oh here's the site for Drudge
http://www.drudgereport.com/
He just posts some stories that aren't reported. There are times he's critical of both liberals and conservatives.

4. CLUBSUGAS (190) | 3 years ago | its funny cause most people you speak are against the conservatives so it makes you wonder -who exactly came up with the listing and the total of votes if any were in fact done - just goes to show, these people stick together to stay rich - momma didnt raise no fool now

5. anniepa (9261) | 3 years ago | For a group that loves to judge people by their "morals" and "family values" there sure are plenty of philanderers on this list. And former alcoholics and drug addicts. I went through the top 40 and I'm amazed that I didn't see Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity listed. Al those egomaniacs will have a breakdown! Annie

theprogamer (7518) | 3 years ago | Seriously. Some people had problems and others still have problems. Though others did reform (only a few are worth something). By the way I did find it weird O'Rly?, Coultergeist and Banger weren't listed so high.
Also notice how some of the entries either haven't said anything political or aren't exactly conservative in some definition.
I also posted the other list as a discussion Annie. I'm surprised this one got more attention.

lilwonders123 (1252) | 3 years ago | The same could be and is being said about the other side too. Face it, both sides are a mess and if any of them(from either side)mentions family values or morals they should be struck by lightening and smacked repeatedly for being hypocritical liars. As for Ann Coulter. Does anyone really take her seriously? She is a self-important, arrogant (put your choice word here). Anyone who takes her or Rush seriously need to have their head examined.

6. lilwonders123 (1252) | 3 years ago | Oh my goodness. This list is a mess. Whoever put it together was on something. Who in the world would put Rush on this list. He is a shock jock. I equate him along the lines of Howard Stern. Who actually takes that man seriously? I would have put this list together differently.

theprogamer (7518) | 3 years ago | Definitely Lil. Though like 1, maybe 2 people deserve their high spots... many really don't. Some are just fill ins and name recognition but a few haven't really said or done anything.
Don't look to me to reassemble the list though or the other one. They'd a lot of them would be "#1" if you read my sarcasm correctly.
Thanks for dropping in Lil.

7. ladyluna (2495) | 3 years ago | Hello Progamer,
The mere fact that these lists were being released in increments of 20 over the course of the week, was clue enough for me that the purpose of the lists was none other than income generation. I reviewed the first two days lists before resigning myself to the conclusion that the lists were most likely going to continue to be a joke. Consequently, I didn't bother looking for lists three through five. Reading #1-20 of both lists today just supports my earlier conclusion.
Whatever else can be said of either list, the researchers behind them have zero credibility in my eyes. How presumptuous, and maliscious to publicly declare the political affiliation of an active U.S 4-Star General. Regardless of rank, soldiers are given orders, and they follow those orders. Simple as that! Military officers do not reveal their political affiliation while they're still wearing their brass. It is considered a breech of military conduct to do so.
No one would have known conclusively that General Wesley Clark was a liberal, until he was out of uniform. And, even if they suspected it, they didn't disrespect him by attempting to discredit his ability to receive and follow orders, regardless of who the Commander in Chief is.
I consider this assumption about Gen. Petraeus as an attack on his professional career. Y'all remember what they say about assuming, right?

|
|
theprogamer (7518) | 3 years ago | Completely correct, especially about Clark. -_- It did seem like some of it was for money and others for getting the bullseye marks in a row. Sigh...
And yep Luna, I do remember about assuming!
