Melody's eczema

I truly feel for Melody. I sat with a little girl that has had eczema since she was just a few months old. Vaseline did nothing other than make her skin greasy, where the scratches didn't show so much, but never relieved the terrible itching. She applied it herself sometimes, but then her hands where so greasy she couldn't even open the door to go to school. Her little hands looked like they belonged to an 80 year old..all wrinkled. Her dermatologist prescribed a cream with hydrocortisone in it, but they only used it half the time. She had it all over her body, her arms, legs, feet and ankles, her face, in her scalp, on her back. She suffered. She is now a junior in high school and she doesn't have it as bad, but she still has it. Her hands, and wrists and ankles are the worst still.

My friend's daughter (the one I am talking about) gets even worse if she eats certain foods. Chocolate is one of them that makes her even worse... so they believe.. but it is an autoimmune disorder and I think it really doesn't matter what she eats.

Your daughter might need some help getting her skin treated. If she suffers like my friend's daughter does, I feel for her. She has always been made fun of by other kids that don't have this problem. They call her "old lady" and alligator skin.. and she just withdraws into herself.

I'd imagine you've tried everything under the sun as far as lotions go. Have you tried Renew from Melaleuca? It is the only thing that I've found that keeps my hands normal during the winter. I understand Melody's situation is much worse than mine, but I have talked to others who have found much relief witht this lotion.

If you are interested in trying it let me know asap! I will be ordering my stuff in the next week and I can order a travel size of that lotion. Let me know. It's aweful to have to deal with eczema daily. I hope you are able to find something that works for her.

I just discovered that mylot had a place for the topic of eczema, so im responding to your discussion, even though its 5 months old! I just wanted to tell you though, that my daughter has it, and vaseline doesnt help her at all..what helps though is AQUAPHOR. Its similar to vaseline, but it seems to work much better on dry skin. I put it on her at night or anytime that her skin is itchy, but she's not having an eczema flare up. Also, i had to get her a prescription for cortizone ointment that we can use for 7 days at a time during flare ups. It REALLY helps if i get it on her as soon as the flare up starts. Im sure this is sooo miserable. I hope your daughter gets better!

My daughter is six and has excema and very dry skin. We have had to use antibotics and steroid creams. which proved to be useless. I ordered her some Arbonne ABC Baby Care. We use the body wash, oil and lotion. It has really helped her skin. She doesn't complain about itching anymore. When we at the dematologist to have some dead skin removed from her shoulder he told me that Arbonne was one of the best products for skin care. He promotes Arbonne in his office.
