CHRISTMAS Shopping - When do you start? |
|
I usually start Christmas shopping after Thanksgiving, or after we put our Christmas tree up, which on some years it was pretty late in the season! LOL. One year I started my shopping in Sept and was done by November, it was great being done, but I felt like I missed out on the "Christmas shopping season" - Crazy, i know.

1. bowtieguy (5670) | 3 years ago | I alwasy start a few weeks before halloween getting some of the big ticket items for my sons and a few things for other family member and save the little things and gifts for friends for around thanksgiving, but I susaly try to get all of my shopping done beforedecember so I don't have to fight any of the crowds when I go shopping.

nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | I deep down like the holiday crowds when I go Christmas shopping. But I like not being rushed too. Thanks for your response.

oneandonemakesix (24038) | 3 years ago | I'm with you, I hate fighting the holiday crowds...
So far most of my shopping has been done online.
And I've done it on Ebay and used PayPal.
So there will be some buyer protection for me if something goes wrong.

2. foxyfire33 (5796) | 3 years ago | I haven't had much luck with early Christmas shopping the past few years. Last year I had the baby November 13th and then he got sick in the middle of December. I think I finally did my shopping a few days before Christmas. The year before we were having car problems. Two years ago we were all really sick one after another from Thanksgiving on but I managed to go out the day before Christmas Eve. This year I wanted to start a month or so ago but things happened and I still haven't. Right now I'm just concentrating on the big 1st birthday and will probably start with Christmas stuff with the next paycheck.

nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | I know all about the big first birthday. We just celebrated my sons 1st year. He was born in October, but I started planning it in mid to late August. It's exhausting and stressful, but let me tell you that it's all worth it.
Happy 1st birthday, little one!

LOL oddly enough this yr, for the first time ever, I know exactly what you mean:-/ I will be done all my Xmas shopping within a week or so and I can honestly say that I feel like its going to be a let down cause I'll be missing all that crazy holiday shopping...whats stranger still though is the fact that I do most of my shopping online so its not like I go to the mall anyway LOL AND I'm not even a fan of Xmas in the first damn place LOL
| |
| |
|
|
nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | LOL Well, i guess that even online they have a 'Christmas rush'. They have 'order by dec 18th and STILL receive it by the 24th" or some thing like that. I LOVE Christmas, so I think I really like the rush of last minute shopping - and the sales too.

4. just2crazygirlz (1014) | 3 years ago | I usually start in January. But this year I am so behind. Due to lack of funds.
| |
| |
|
|
nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | January of the Christmas year?? Wow, now see that's early Christmas shopping.
How do you keep track of who you bought what? If I keep something for too long, I forget WHY I bought it. LOL
| |
|
|
just2crazygirlz (1014) | 3 years ago | i have one closet where I store all the presents. I buy for my daughter, my mom, brother, sister, dad, grandma and some friends. Last year a doubles of 2 things that I had gotten for my daughter. sold the extras on ebay. Somtimes i do go look in there just to see what is there.
| |
|
|
nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | Do you tag the things you have so you know who you've bought for? or do you know immediately who they're for? I wish I had an extra closet to store my presents - I have find nooks and crannies all over the house to store them. LOL
| |
|
|
just2crazygirlz (1014) | 3 years ago | Nope. I don't tag them until I wrap them. I just know who they are for.
| |
|
|
nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | That's awesome. I have to tag most of them, especially if they're not clothes or something that can be easily distinguished by age.
| |
|
|
just2crazygirlz (1014) | 3 years ago | I usually only buy for about 20 people. I just know what I got them since the presents are usually so different.
| |
|
|
nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | I don't buy for a lot of people either, but when I buy for my parents and grandparents, sometimes I get them similar things and I have a hard time figuring out whats for who. Maybe I should start getting more unique gifts.=)

5. oneandonemakesix (24038) | 3 years ago | when my husband was making better money I would buy things year round when things were on sale, and it was great, it took the pressure off me for last minute shopping.
Now I'm doing my shopping, but looking for sales and deals, and buying online if I can.
I just bought my second gift yesterday, off ebay, and am looking at my 3rd one already to purchase this week.
I think the more I can do online and not battle stores the happier I'll be, and if I can get things offline, and save a bit of money, I'll be even happier.
Like the camera I bought last night for 60.00 6.1 mp camera for my daughter for Christmas which saved me about 30.00 and was a slightly better camera, she doesn't need a fancy schmancy camera, but I also let her play with mine as well which is a better camera, but only slightly more resolution.
But i couldn't justify buying her a 'toy' camera.

nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | I think i like waiting until later in the season BECAUSE they do have sales. Grant it, they don't have the full selection, but if you're on a budget, they gifts work just fine. I haven't done much online shopping, but maybe it's something I should try because when I go out I spend WAY too much on things I really don't need, but can't live without! LOL

7. oneandonemakesix (24038) | 3 years ago | when my husband had a better job, I have to say that I started in Jan when all the sales were going on, and I could do that...now I'm lucky to start in Sept, and I end up spending a lot less on everyone.
And my kids are older, and harder to buy for.....ages 10 to 15...
actually my girls are really easy to buy for, and my boys are getting harder and harder to buy for.
but I'll manage.

nica269 (522) | 3 years ago | I'm always afraid of buying things this year for next year because I'm afraid that if I buy clothes, they'll no longer be 'in style' and they'll just hate it. But I guess if there were non-clothing items It should be okay, right?

8. beyonce03 (1871) | 3 years ago | I try to at leat go check all the price and where I will buy things in november. After that I will only need to pick up things in december and I will only go in hours that have less people lol. This year I don,t really have time in november, but starting the first week of december I will only work 4h a week and I will finish at dinner time. it will be easy to shop at that time:)
