I love the smell of real trees at Christmas. My oldest daughter is allergic to pine trees though, so we have an artificial tree every year.It took quite a few years of her always being sick at Christmas time before the doctor figured out the cause. Our artificial tree looks real it just lacks that wonderful smell.

I love the smell as well. But, like you, my daughter is also allergic....which saddens me.......lol........so we will have a beautiful artificial white tree this year....Happy Holidays!

I agree. I HAVE to have a live tree for Christmas. For me, the best part about having the Christmas tree is the smell when you walk into the room. I'll be picking my tree up this weekend and can't wait to smell that aroma.

If my daughter was allergic...i'm not sure, if even then, i could give it up.;)
Nahh. but i almost was thinking about not getting a real Christmas tree this year, because our dog kept eating the branches. But i think...we'll just have to keep an extra eye on him this year. And i guess that'll be better than having him eat plastic neway

I cant believe how expensive a real tree is. I paid around 60.00 for my fake tree after Christmas a few years ago. It really looks real and will last for years. I sometimes burn a pine candle if my daughter isnt home. To get that real tree smell.

I was that way. When I was a kid - back in the dark ages of bad artifical trees - we had to get one because I apparently was sick every Christmas. Then, in 9th grade, at a brand new school, some bright person got the idea of sticking a GIANT juniper tree (shrub) in the courtyard of the school. I got sick and stayed sick most of the rest of the year because it got in the ventilation system.

Then, in 1972 my parents decided we didn't need a tree anymore. My sister said it wasn't fair & begged for one in her room. Well, she got a real, flocked one & I was sick - big surprise.

That was my last live tree.

The former roomie always nagged me for a tree, but only a "real" one would do. I stood my ground. I was NOT going to be sick because of another Christmas tree.

I have always used a fake tree. My daughter has allergies too so the smell of pine would probaly make her sick too. I don't like real trees because you are picking pine needles out of your floor for months after you have thrown the tree out. I think it is the decortaions that make the tree.

we have had them in the past but at upward of $20 per tree, it can get pretty pricey, plus i hate cleaning up the pine needles, so we will put up our old (fake) tree once again this year and spray some pine air freshener around!!:-)

We don't have a tree yet but we are getting it this weekend. We always get a live tree. They are so much prettier and smell wonderful! It is the only time I don't mind cleaning up after something (the needles that fall all over the floor). I would be sad if I had to get a fake tree.

Plus, artifical trees are too expensive up front. I know in the long run they might save money but when you only have $50 and you are standing in front of a nice $40 real tree and a nice $200 artifical tree you don't really have an option.

When we moved into the house we live in now I was happy that we have fairly high ceilings. I decided then that we would always get a tall live tree. Last years was our best ever- it was about 8 or 9 feet high!!!
When I lived with my mom she would only get a big tree for me because she knew how much I loved it but if a year came around and she just didn't want to have a big one it was up to her and we would have a tiny tree, which would make me sad. And when I moved into my first apartment it was so small and cramped that we couldn't get a tree. We ended up with a Christmas Bush!

When our kids were young we always bought live trees then planted them in the backyard after Christmas. They weren't as big or trimmed quite so nicely as a regular cut tree, but it was nice to know we weren't "wasting" a tree - and they smelled great! Problem was - our yard got filled up with pine trees! That's when we started going to tree farms and cutting our own tree, which was fun. Now that the kids are grown, a few years ago I bought a pre-lit, very tall and skinny tree that fits perfectly in our current house (where we have plenty of trees outside and don't really need to plant anymore). Believe it or not, we fold up the branches with the decorations on, put plastic bags over the tree and store it in the attic each year. Now, that's the lazy way to put up (or take down) a Christmas tree!

We have a real one every year.... When my girls were little, we would go right to a tree farm and cut down our own! But now that that they are older, we just go to the local church that sells them already pre-cut. We still do it as a family, and we still get to pick it out, but we just don't have to cut it down! lol!

I love the smell of a fresh pine tree! It just makes Christmas seem so much more special! We'll be getting ours on Sunday after hubby gets back from Hunting camp.

We get a live tree every year because one of the friends I live with insists on it. All three of us go and pick one out from the nursery that is just down the road. Now that we have had a live tree for the past 6 years I could not imaging having an artificial one. Of course if someone were to have the problems your daughter had we would also do what is needed.
