Do you prefer a Real or Fake Christmas Tree? |
|
I have been trying to decide whether to get a fake tree this year. I have always gone out and cut down a fresh christmas tree. But it is getting harder to go out and get one because my husband is always busy. So I have to wait. I am thinking of getting a fake one, but it just won't be the same. Of course I won't have any mess with the needles, but I will miss the smell. I could get air fresheners that smell like pine? What are your thoughts and what kind of tree do you like.

2. MakinMoney129 (163) | 3 years ago | We always had a fake one, since I was little. Then a few years ago, we got real ones 2 years in a row...but the mess was just too much! Now we have 2 kitties and a puppy, in addition to a new baby, so not only would it take up too much time, but they're very dangerous for the animals, and I'm not willing to risk any of my babies' health for a pine smelling holiday! LOL! We have a fake, pre-lit one now that I add extra lights to, as well as our ornaments and such...it's nice, it's even "fiber optic" so it has normal xmas lights, and the "needles" light up and slowly change color. I think it's a lot prettier than any real one I've ever decorated lol...but I do still decorate our real pine trees outside.

badkat83 (1109) | 3 years ago | i just got a fiber optic one for my office. it is real pretty with the lights off.
everytime one of my customers come in, i shut off the light to show them how pretty it is.
i guess the other problem with a fake tree is i have 3 cats and they love to eat the fake ones. i just pulled something out of the closet with a tiny fake tree on it and there they were chomping away.
thanks.

3. mistissa (1126) | 3 years ago | I prefer a fake one, you are so right about all the mess with needles. And I have 3 young children in the house, so I think it is better to have a fake one, so they don't hurt themselves. And actually I am allergic to certain trees and such, so in that case I also would not want a real one.
| |
| |
|
|
badkat83 (1109) | 3 years ago | i have family who are allergic too.
i guess i am torn as it has always been a family tradition to go out and trudge through the woods to cut one down.

4. qradav (112) | 3 years ago | I live in a tropical country so we don't have real ones so I guess I will prefer the fake since its the thing I'm used to. Would be good to get a real one though. From the responses I have seen here, a real one sounds really good

5. nini168 (1333) | 3 years ago | I want the fake one in any way. first, it is easy to find a fake one, it will be sold in every store and supermarket. So you can get it easily. second, the fake tree is always in a good shape, so it is easy for me to decorate in my favorate way. If a real one stand before me, I may find hard to do with it. Final, the tree protect our enviroment in some degree. If we take it away, it means that we do harm to our enviroment. To protect out earth, we should keep the real in the ground. So I will choose the fake one.

|
|
badkat83 (1109) | 3 years ago | that is a good response, but where i get my christmas tree, they grow them specifically for this purpose.
the only downfall of a fake one is storing it.

8. fanji008 (660) | 3 years ago | Hi,there! I would prefer a real Christmas tree cause it gives me the feeling that it's fresh and new.I like real things and it's more alive. It's wonderful to put things in it to decorate it. The fake tree also has the good side. You can use it next year:) Anyway,I prefer the real one. Hopefully you'll get the one you want. Best wishes for Christmas, then it's a little bit early,I still wanna send out my best regards^_^ Have a nice day!

9. 4monsters4me (2011) | 3 years ago | I've never had a real tree in 31 (I'll be 31 in December) years. Our artificial tree is very special to me. The original one we had was bought the day after I was born. I was sick and in the hospital and my mom was very depressed that she would be going home without me so my dad went out, bought the tree and had it set up and decorated when she got home.
I got out of the hospital a couple days before Christmas. Every Christmas since then (until I was 19) my mom set the tree up the day after my birthday as a reminder. It was a nice, full tree to start with--not one of those cheap, fake looking ones. It eventually fell apart. I was sad my dad didn't wait just one year to get a new one, but 19 years isn't too bad for a tree.
The one we have now is 100 times easier to put together. The old one you had to insert each individual branch into the trunk. Our new one (haha, new--it is 12 years old now) the top part is already together and the bottom branches hook to the center at the top and just lay on this round frame attached to the bottom. It is very pretty but pretty big.

badkat83 (1109) | 3 years ago | well that is a nice story. see everyone has their own special tradition.
i should stick with the real tree.

10. diillu (4362) | 3 years ago | I know Real Christmas tree has alot to do with christmas. The freshness and moreover the reality. But for me I would like to get a big fake christmas tree. And I would like to decorate it on my own. This christmas tree I can always keep inside my room and the most important part is it can remain as long as I want to keep it. And the most other important part is I can use it anytime again.

badkat83 (1109) | 3 years ago | that is what i tried to tell my son this morning when he freaked out i was thinking of putting up a fake one. you can keep it up as long as you want.
if i had a fake one i would probably keep it up until summer as the best part is sitting in the dark looking at the lights.
