Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Special  |

 We watched the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special last night on t.v. It is such a cute holiday special and we're looking forward to the Christmas special next week.
As we were watching I noticed that Marcy always referrs to Peppermint Patty as Sir. I guess as a kid I didn't really wonder why but it is kind of silly.
Does anyone know why she does this?

| 3. stanzi2007 (343) | 3 years ago |  dear espiritu, yes, i also had the charlie brown special on last nite, while i was on the computer...marcy i think does that as her eyesight is not good, i always thought. but i could be wrong, but i always found it so cute, that she did that. i watched the documentary on public tv this month on the life of the creater of the snoopy cartoon, and he said that alot of things that bothered him as a child he used his cartoon strip to work it out, like using therapy...stanzi

For a long time, Patty said, "Don’t call me ‘Sir.’" Eventually, however, she stops and appears to grow accustomed to it, maybe even fond of her dominant role. Marcie is perfectly content in her submissive position, after all. So they have nothing to complain about. The give-and-take synergism rolls on unimpeded by the inevitable hoots and sneers they’ll engender later in life. Meanwhile, though, nobody else is aware of their relationship, or at least they except it to either fester or flourish in the proverbial closet. Their childhood companions seem to have tacitly agreed to not ask, provided Peppermint Patty and Marcie agree not to tell.i googled it so i guess i was righ i think lol.pattie | |

| 5. blueunicorn (1272) | 3 years ago |  I always thought the Marcy was just a little confused and had bad eyesight. Also Peppermint Patty is very much a tomboy, so that may confuse Marcy even more. That's a good question, though. I'll have to do some research and see if I can find the answer. My mom is a huge Peanuts collector, so she may have something in her stacks of books.
