Did you do anything today and it "Black Friday"? |
This is going towards more to the United States Mylotters,i don't know if they have a "Black Friday"in any other country or not.But if so,than you may add your input on here too. But,did you all do anything today on "Black Friday"?What "Black Friday"is,to some people that don't know what this means,is where all of the shoppers go to any retail store and buy up a bunch of things for their families, and friends for Xmas.It is usually very bad on this day.I was watching NBC News tonight and they showed people standing at the doors waiting for the doors to open so they can go in and shop, and try to get the best deal in the store b4 anybody else gets it.it is more like a,"whatever is better in price,if you get it,than you better run",LOL.There were so many people on the tv news show at this one outlet mall in N.Y.C.,that they were pushing other people trying to get in the door....LOL People go crazy over this sort of thing. And it's rediculous to spend that much,of the estimated amount that they decided to spend for Xmas.It is probably the worst day throughout the whole year for the retail stores.I didn't do nothing today,i just woke up today, fooled around with some of my family members, and than came back home, and got on the internet. What did you do today?

1. cornchips50 (120) | 3 years ago | hi, Here in my country Philippines our Black Friday falls on Lenthen Season wherein we remember the sacrifices of Jesus Christ before he died on the cross.
Your Black Friday in USA is rushing on sale lol. How about this Thanksgiving you are celebrating? What is this all about? When is it celebrated? For how long?

Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | hello cornchips50, Yeah,Black Friday is celebrated here.It is the day after Thanksgiving, which Thanksgiving falls on The second Thursday of the month. And thanksgiving is about feeding and gorging yourself on this holdiay, until you are full of eating.it has been a holiday tradition for over years about the Dying God in the Universe.
| |
cornchips50 (120) | 3 years ago | You said thanksgiving is celebrated every 2nd thursday of the month right? So, this is monthly celebration?

ivandcruz (912) | 3 years ago | i don't think it's black friday in holy week. it is called black saturday i think. i really don't know why they have thanksgiving in american. what are they really thankful. it's really confusing too that sometimes they call it black saturday. call you tell me once and for all what this is. what is the origin of this tradition. i believe there is thanksgiving too in canada. but i have asked my parents working on canada but she does not really know about this. she is ignorant about this too. can you explain this to me.

Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | cornchips50, no,thanksgiving doesn't come on every month of the year.it is only on November .on the second week of november.

funny how the term Black Friday is now a humongous retail shopping day, when it was used originally for the stock market crash!
| |
| |
Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | Me neither.....LOL IT is crazy when it comes that day!i watched the NBC nightly news and they showed a preview of what "Black Friday"is like. It was somewhere in NYC,and there was like millions of people standing there at the front of this gr8 big mall that is very popular in NYC.and when the doors opened at the said time, everybody rushed in the store running frantically like the world was ending to rush to get their gifts. It's really crazy, stupid also.lol them going crazy like that.lol I think that its nuts anyway to buy bunch of gifts like that, lol.

4. RLFinNash (5721) | 3 years ago | hello thai_guy
well i sure didn't do any shopping yesterday whatsoever. when i was a teenager, i couldn't wait to get to the malls to shop the day after Thanksgiving. now that i have two kids, there was no way that i was going out yesterday with them. the crowds here in Nashville, Tennessee at the malls yesterday were unbelievable dude. Opry Mills, one of the major malls here in town, the traffic was backed up Briley Parkway all the way to the Wave Pool.
and i imagine that Rivergate Mall and Hickory Hollow Mall, Cool Springs Galleria and 100 Oaks Mall were all busy. my guess would be that 100 Oaks Mall was the least busiest because that is like the first mall that was here in Nashville, and there isn't much going on there these days.
and yes, NBC, last night, showed the crowds here also at the malls, even showed the parking lots. a couple of years ago, my family and i went to Opry Mills in the Christmas crowd, and i live about seven minutes from there, it took us THREE hours to get home through the traffic. it was awful dude. lol then motorist were getting mad, blowing their horns and crap like that, i could have gotten out of the car and walked home faster than we were driving that night.
have a beautiful rest of the weekend.

Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | wow.....i know exactly where Briley Parkway is in Nashville Rhonda.I've been there b4 a few times. But the mall doesn't ring the bell.Although Rivergate Mall does, and Hickory Hollow Mall.I think Hickory Hollow is near Hermitage?I think? That's where we use to live.Like in White Oaks Apartments where the MegaMart use to be.Now it's something else i think my paw told me....lol Thanks for sharing your adventures on Christmas shopping,LOL.I don't try to fool with it as much as i can.hehe i shop for my christmas gifts the day b4 christmas, lol.and i've done that for years....lol' take care Rhonda and i'll see ya on here tommorrow! Your friend, Thai_Guy

RLFinNash (5721) | 3 years ago | hi, Opry Mills Mall, is where Opryland Amusement Park used to be on Briley Parkway, they closed Opryland down and built a mall. you come to the Wave Pool there upon the hill of Briley Parkway first, then on down the hill there on the left is Opry Mills now. i have provided a link for ya to click on it to see where it is.
Opry Mills Shopping Mall
http://www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=1259
btw, my hubby goes out on Christmas Eve every year to do his Christmas shopping, and he gets up early that morning, takes off, and he stays gone all day long shopping. he will hit the malls first, then he goes to Wal-Mart and places like that. i cannot wait until the last minute to do my shopping. take care.
| |
Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | yes,i remember where Opryland use to be at b4 they took it down. That's been,God,i'd say over 10 years at the most.I remember that i went there one time with my dad,his g/f now his wife, and my brother, and my step-brother.We all went there for the day and i liked it.I always wondered why they took it down though? It seemed to be like a little bit like Dolllywood.I'll check that link out Rhonda. Thanks for that. Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | i was reading where it said something about McGavovick Pike, isn't McGavick High on that road?God,i cannot remember that well in Nashville. It's been so many years since i've been up there.LOL
| |
RLFinNash (5721) | 3 years ago | yes, McGavock High School is on McGavock Pike, and if you follow McGavock Pike all the way to the end of it, you'll turn left into Opry Mills and can get to the mall like that also, as well as Briley Parkway. well, you can imagine how big that Opry Mills Mall is, because you had remembered Opryland being there once upon a time. in Pro Bass or Bass Pro shop, lol, it is awesome in that store, they have a giantatic fish aquarium, i am not talking about small fish, like goldfish or tropical fish, but fish like bass and bigger fish.:0 and in the Aquarium Restuarant at the mall, that is awesome in there also. the whole time that you are sitting there eating, you are looking at a big aquarium that covers the entire restaurant. my hubby took me there to eat dinner on Valentine's Day night this past year. take care.
| |
Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | the aqarium kinda reminds me of Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg. I went there one time and it was amazing. But i know that this is in a restaurant though. That's pretty neat sitting there in the restaurant and you can look at the big fish swim by you in the aqarium.Nice...... I remember Opryland was very big.I think it was bigger than Dollywood if i remember correctly. So,if it was that big, yes,i can imagine how big Opry Mills would be now.HUGE!LOL Bigger than my little mall down here....LOL Have you been to West Town Mall in Knoxville? That mall is big,but i can imagine Opry Mills.Opry Mills would probably make three malls of West Town Mall in Knoxville.
| |
RLFinNash (5721) | 3 years ago | i have probably been to the mall in Knoxville before years ago, shopping with my Mom. take care.
| |

Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | Little Melinda loves going to the mall too.:) she loves going there every first of the month.Especially to go look at Prophets,LOL and sniffing of the perfume and checking out the pots and pans.LOL that tickles the $hit outta me when she'd go and look at Rachel Ray's pots and pans thingie. We went to Walden's Bookstore one day and she seen a book of Rachel Ray.And gosh, you should've seen her, lmao.she wanted it so bad. So,i bought it for her and told her that it was her early b-day present from me.She's still got it to this day.I'm glad that she likes it...;-P Take care Rhonda!;-P

Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | BTW,I heard from my Father tonight.... and guess what he's up to?He's getting along alot better than i thought he was.I called him on his cell, and,he was busy. And i asked him,"Whatcha doing Dad?"I'm working on a lamphouse over here at a theater in Nashville."WOW!How's your foot doing?"Ah,it takes spells where it would hurt." And so,i had to let him go b/c he was working on the lamphouse in the theater. But,that shocked me totally. He told me that he was suppose to be at home in bed,and he says,"which i aint",lol but he said that in about a week or so,he'll be back to normal.Melinda heard the whole conversation when i called him,and when he called back b/c i had him on speakerphone on my cell. And she was like shocked. She said,"How can he move like that after he had that bad wreck?"beats the $hit outta me.LOL
So,i thought i'd give you an update on that one.really amazing.

5. kykidd (4624) | 3 years ago | It is actually Saturday now, but I will elaborate on my day yesterday for "Black Friday". My 18 yr old neice spent the night with me on Thanksgiving so that we could get up early and go shopping. We didn't need any of the limited number items so we were done with breakfast and on our way by 7:45. We got a couple of good deals and picked up some things my sister needed as gifts too since she had to work. I barely spent $120 all together but got over $350 worth of Christmas items!
| |
| |
Thai_Guy (676) | 3 years ago | yes, this time of the year you can find excellent deals on everything. i found at Circuit City a laptop for only $248.that is an excellent buy! desktops are very cheap too!If i had the money,i'd spend the $200 on a laptop.that's about the best time to get something that high if you want it. for yourself that is,hehe.i've seen bunch of excellent deals everywhere and i just wish that i had the money in the mid of this month.flips me out.

6. girljar (118) | 3 years ago | When I got home from Thanksgiving at my aunt's, my best friend was waiting for me at my house. It was midnight, and she was ready to go shopping! I didn't even go in my house; my daughter and I went with her to Brandon, Florida, shopping. We arrived at WalMart at about 2:00 am, and we stayed there until 5:00 when the sale items were released. My daughter slept in the car while we were in there, and she texted me because she had set the car alarm off when she got out of the car. lmao. She came in just before 5, and we all three had separate stations. We made friends, and had a good time while we were waiting for 5 to roll around. We all got what we went for, and left the store happy. We then went to Old Time Pottery, and stayed in there for over 2 hours. I call my friend the 'crazy Christmas Lady', because she loves Christmas, and has 27 trees set up in her house! She spend most of the time in that store in the Christmas isles. We went to K-mart, and the mall, and had fun everywhere we went. We got a lot of great deals, and a lot of my shopping is done. Best time I've had in years.
