i received my first cake order today!  

I've always wanted to learn how to decorate cakes, however, it takes a lot of time and patience something I don't have a lot of patience, as mine is stretched thin with my kids....

Also I have never had the money to take cake decorating classes although I have always wanted to.

But like you I know RN will do a spectacular job with it, and it will turn out beautiful no matter what.

I keep thinking I want to learn to decorate cakes, too. It's just another one of those things that gets pushed to the side, though. My husband is always teasing me that I have too many hobbies. I never take the chance to just focus on one.

thanks for your very nice compliments that you have given me on my cake decorating skills. :) and my first cake decorating class was a present from my hubby and plus it was on sell for half off which made it just $18.00 for me to attend a four week class. plus my brother helped me out with purchasing the student kit that i had to have for the classes and also when you went to class there at Michael's, students got an additional ten percent off of their bill. also three weeks in a row, we had to take a baked cake in and prepare icing for them as well. plus i had to worry about if i had enough gas in my car to get there each week, and also if my car was going to start once that i came back out of my classes. luckily i did not have any problems with going to my cake decorating classes thou. :) and i loved every minute of my classes. and i cannot wait to go back in the spring time to attend Course 2 and Course 3.

Wow, RLF, you went through a lot to get through that cake decorating class. I am impressed by your determination. It seems that it is now paying off!

Some of my hobbies are reading, writing, playing board games, hiking/ walking, Yoga, cross stitch, hanging out with my family. I'm sure there are many more. That's just what comes into my mind at the moment.

thanks and i used to cross-stitch when i was in my twenties. i have cross-stitched a bunch of beautiful pictures, and once here, at Homespun Fun a cross-stitch store that used to be here where that i live, which is closed now, they had a contest going on, so i entered my picture that i had cross-stitched, and everybody from my job went in there and voted for me, and guess what?, i won 2nd place in the cross-stitch contest! whoo-hoo, i cannot remember now excately what i had won for my 2nd place prize, i think it was like a $25 gift certificate to spend in the store. :) thanks for sharing!

That is really cool about your cross stitch in the contest! Mine is no where near contest quality, but it gives me something to do. Often times at night I have to keep my hands busy or I fall asleep shortly after putting my kids to bed! Cross stitch is a great way to keep my mind working while relaxing at the same time.

thanks. i have to talk to the lady again in the morning that ordered the football cake, and i do not know what she wants to go with yet. i do have the Wilton football shaped pan, or i could make like a playing field on the top of the cake, whatever that she wants done. i will be sure to post the football cake here at Mylot when i am finished decorating it.

i just got back home from going out this morning shopping and getting the things that i needed to decorate the football cake. i am lucky to have a Party City store and a Hobby Lobby close by to where that i live.

as soon as i get finished decorating the football cake, i will be showing off my work again. i found some cool football candles, and i can put one on the top of the cake like it is sitting there ready for kick-off! play ball!
