| | Another sanity saving tip. Lock the doors, pull the blinds, turnout the lights, throw the phone in the septic tank, lay down on the floor and try to sleep through till January 15th. | | | | | | |

| | Inflatable tree? I'm intrigued...I've never seen one before...:) How about a pre-lit, pre decorated tree? I saw one in those catalogs of useless crap once. I thought, "That's a great idea! What a time saver!" | | | |

| | You completely ignored my attempt at a dirty joke! The inflatable tree is for Santa when Mrs. Claus is too busy with the elves. She likes the elves becasue they are a certain height for preforming cetain services... | | | |

| | Wow , you are like a much less bytchy Martha Stewart for regular people! (Martha's stuff is usually for people who have money.) I don't have any good holiday tips, except for this one: Just go to someone else's house! You save yourself form all the time effort an money involved in doing things at your own house, but you still get to see pretty things and eat tasty food! Haven't you ever wondered why everyone wants to come to YOUR house? LOL | | | | | | |

| | LOL that IS a great idea...in fact, that's what my mom is doing...She finally gets to enjoy Christmas without stressing and fretting...that she leaves up to me...haha Martha Stewart can kiss my butt...Maybe if I was a gazillionaire with a full staff of assistants and a whole lot of time on my hand, I could do what she does, but those of us who live in the real world know how to take all the best shortcuts... | | | |

| | Morning Sndcain, Geesh, you've provided so many great suggestions! I can't think of much to add. Only these: In addition to your scented candles suggestion, I'll add the following: Slow simmer a small pot of water with a cinnamon stick, and a tbsp. of vanilla. This is even a good way to use the cheaper "Artificial Vanilla", that one would not wish to use in their baking. The house will smell so yummy, warm & inviting!!! Anyone who uses a wood stove probably already has a water pot on their stove. Adding the cinnamon & vanilla is a great, inexpensive way to instill the smells of Christmas -- or French Toast, however one might choose to perceive it. Second, anyone who has satellite t.v. already has every Christmas song ever made available for their holiday listening pleasure. Every Christmas both Dish & Direct TV add a free 24x7 Christmas music station. A cheap, easy, and ecologically nice thing to do is to pop some popcorn, and string popcorn & fresh cranberries onto string to adorn outdoor trees. The birds love it -- they'll gobble it all up. It's a simple thing for the family to do while they're watching t.v. And, it brings the festivity out of door, so that when we come and go from our homes, we're reminded of the Christmas Spirit. I love the Fudge idea. Do you have a good Fudge recipe? I'm curious to see if I could adapt it. I usually make cookies, or pumpkin muffins to gift to friends & neighbors. This year it's going to be little pumpkin/spice cakes, all decked out in festive frosting & decoration. | | | | | | |

| | Those are really fantastic ideas! I'm, always looking for a "new tradition" The simmer pot..that's a great one..I've done that many times...also, a "safer" way to go might be to get one of those mini crockpots...I put wax tarts in mine, but you could totally put a simmer mix in it as well. My fudge recipe is so easy and so adaptable... 2 pkgs flavored chips 1 can sweetened condensed milk Now, to make chocolate fudge, I use milk chips and white and add walnuts and vanilla To make candy cane fudge, I add coarsely chopped candy canes and white chips Orange--two bags white chips and orange extract. You can also had orange zest PB Fudge, just use white chips and PB chips. You get the picture...you really can't mess this up it's the easiest recipe in the world and it's very cheap to make. | | | |

| | Oh my ... I'm definitely going to have to try making your candy cane fudge. Mmmm, PB fudge. I've never made fudge, so I had no idea how easy it is. OK, you've definitely got me on board. Thanks a ton! Oh, and you're right about the mini-crock being a safer alternative. They're not expensive, easy to find (any Walmart, KMart, Target), and they can be used year round. Good thinking! | | | |

| | Hit the day after sales at stores. Stock up on lights, decorations, storage bins, set arounds, yard decor and tons of other Christmas items at up to 75% off of the regular during the season items. It pained me this year to have to buy Christmas lights. Evidently the ones I had last year that went outside got misplaced or I threw them away because they didn't work and I had to go out and buy 4 boxes of lights to finish decorating the outside of my house. I love going the day after Christmas because everything at Wal-Mart from candles to cards to lights to wreaths are all half off. Such a great bargain! Butchers paper works great for wrapping paper and it's a lot cheaper than wrapping paper. Get your kids to draw Christmas themed pictures on them and use that paper for family members, school presents or donations. The kids will have a blast doing it and when it's all over with, the sentimental value of the pictures drawn on that paper are worth far more than store bought paper. | | | | | | |
