When do you take down your Christmas tree and decorations? |
|
WIth no kids around anymore, i only put up a few things anyway, just for the GD's to have fun playing with a few things. I am doing a snow scene with 3 small fiber optic lighted trees that i got on sale and some white battig for snow nad some little ceramic houses for nder neath.
But I usually took stuff down on New Years Day - mainly cause it was back to work the next day and it'd be weeks before I'd have time to deal with it all after working and dealing with new year stuff at the job.
But... when my daughter was 3 I had a 3 foot artificial one and the year before I was always on her about not touching it. I thought, Good grief, this little one just wants to see the fun and cute things the bright lights and fun ornaments. So the next year when she was 3 - almost 4, i used the same tree but went and bought all wooden or plastic ornaments. Really cute one and fun ones and kid ones. I let her decorate the tree as she wanted to and then let her be in charge of the tree. Every single morning hte first thing she'd want to do is take down all the ornaments and put them back up again after she checked eac on and talked to the character it was. This was the cutest thing and she never missed a morning and I didnt' want to dissapoint her....so that tree was left up until February!! It was then that she started to miss mornings so I took it down. Did this for about 3 more years! Christmas is to be enjoyed and make memories - sure did make one for me! And just think, all over taking down decorations!

2. MariaD (2342) | 3 years ago | We normally take down Christmas decorations after The Feast of Three Kings, I think that's on the first or second Sunday of January. At times, I'd have that feeling of not packing it up, especially the Christmas lights, we'd leave some of them on the same spot throughout the year.

3. speedy1279 (1490) | 3 years ago | My birthday is on Jan 2nd. So my parents always left the decorations up until the weekend after my birthday. They would stick my presents underneath it for me. So that tradition has stuck now that I have my own family. I leave my decorations up until after my birthday and then take them down. What a fun thing you did for your daughter. You will definitly cherish those memories forever. Happy Holidays!

coffeebreak (4838) | 3 years ago | What a fun idea! That is such a good way to keep the smiles coming! Those with b-days so close to christams are always complaining they are combined, so that is a really fun way to seperate them. No other kid can say they get their birthday presents under a beautiful tree!

4. xParanoiax (4937) | 3 years ago | Usually a few days after the holiday itself, and aftr we've cleaned everything else up and have spare time lol.
There's always a rush of things to do AFTER the holidays because December's focus is always on christmas itself, stuff gets put off til afterwards.

coffeebreak (4838) | 2 years ago | I used to dread January - as it meant putting it all away and I hated that so much! I was very organized and all, but it was just a horrible thing to do as I did it alone and no one helped me.
