Looking for children's book recommendations |
|
I've been babysitting my friends' son quite a bit over the last week. He's three months old, and they don't own any books. I remember reading tons and tons of books while I was a child, including the wonderful Pat The Bunny, but I really don't know where to begin with looking for books to read to him.
Very simple board books would probably be the best for him, but if you know of any good ones for older children, I'd love to have the titles for future reference. I'm planning on getting what I can from the library, so cost doesn't make a bit of difference to me as long as the book is a good one. ^_^
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your suggestions!

They are excellent books and consist of book titles such as Grow Up! Ready Set Go! And Peek-A-Who! Books by her would be my first suggestion. Other than that, ask your librarian what they recommend as well. I'm sure she/he can offer you plenty of suggestions. I think reading to children starting at a very young age is a wonderful thing to do. They learn so much and their brain, even at such a young age, holds so much more than we can yet understand. Pat The Bunny is a good one. I remember that one from when I was little as well. I think you are doing an excellent job as a babysitter. Keep up the wonderful work and goodluck with your search.

3. huswyf (967) | 2 years ago | I'll repeat the recommendation for "Where the Wild Things Are" - one of my favourite books as a child.
Also, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" which is good for younger kids - very colourful and teaches counting.
Slightly older kids "The Mousehole Cat" which is based on a Cornish Folk Legend of a fisherman who set sail in a stormy sea to save a village from starving - in this instance told through the eyes of his cat.
I loved Roald Dahl's books as a child, still classic even today.
