Do/did you wash your baby's clothes seperately? | | I always did, and I still do. My son is 14 months old. I don't know why I do it, because I use the same mild detergent for him as for the rest of the laundry. I am starting to think that maybe I don't need to separate his things anymore- except maybe the bibs that have food on them. At what age did you or will you stop separating your child's laundry?

Sillychick (2133) | 3 years ago | My husband's work clothes get washed separately too. I used Dreft once, but didn't find it to be any better than the detergent I use for my clothes.

| | 4. Laurla98 (529) | 3 years ago | My daughter just turned one and I did a test to see if her skin could handle our laundry detergent about a month ago. So far so good. I was using ALL free and clear separately for her until that time. I still have some left so I'm using it up, but I use fabric softener for her clothes now too. I usually just suggest washing a onesie or sleeper in your laundry soap and then try it out. If it bothers their skin, it won't take long to show.=)

Sillychick (2133) | 3 years ago | That's the thing, I have always used the same detergent for my son as for the rest of my laundry, so I know the detergent won't bother him. I do dry his clothes on low, though, because a couple of things have shrunk, so now I just do it all the time.
I have never used fabric softener for my son's clothes because it says not to on the package- it can make them less fire resistant.

| | 5. 4monsters4me (2011) | 3 years ago | I washed the kids' clothes separately but only because I did them at a different time then my laundry. Plus it made it easier to sort out. But I never used any kind of special detergent on their clothes (we use All free and clear for everything). I have no problem mixing their clothes in with mine, except for the stuff my kids pee in and leave without telling me (my middle 2 kids wet the bed). Because it smells and makes everything in the wash smell and I have to use special additives to get the smell out. Blech.

Sillychick (2133) | 3 years ago | It definitely makes it easier for sorting, his clothes are so small. That is probably why I still separate it.

Sillychick (2133) | 3 years ago | Yeah, I'm sure it would be fine to stop separating- except finding those tiny socks could become a problem! Maybe I still do it just out of habit, though it definitely makes sorting easier.

| | 7. carlaabt (3164) | 3 years ago | When I was working, everyone's clothes got washed separately. I cut hair, so there were always tiny pieces of hair that I didn't want to get in my son's clothes. My husband is a mechanic so his clothes definitely needed to be washed by themselves. I did mix any clothes that my husband and I wore at home, but that was it. The baby's clothes were washed separately.
Now that I don't work, anything that is worn by my toddler or me, or that my husband wears NOT at work, is washed all together. It's much easier that way.

| | 8. silvermoonmyst (832) | 3 years ago | Ive never seperated my childrens laundry from mine. My husbands work clothes get their own load, but everything else goes in together. I dont see the point of seperating them. Its not as if my bigger clothes are going to somehow harm their clothes. The only time they are washed alone is when they were first bought, or pulled from storage.

| | 9. Goodie123 (7548) | 3 years ago | I always washed my baby clothes seperately. I did all the knitted items by hand, washed their singlets and nighties and all in one suits in one wash, then their nappies and towels in the next load. I did that until they were a year old. My youngest son had ezmea (sorry can't spell today)from when he was about a month old so had to be careful with his clothes.
