My kiddo's won't go to sleep!!!! My little lady will sleep but she wakes up atleast five times a night. Somtimes more. I'm not kidding either. And my son just won't go to bed. We put him down normally at seven thirty and he just stays up untill 11pm. Then they are both up at seven!!! I don't know what to do anymore. I have tried tylenol, going to bed earlier, shorter naps, aromatherapy. You name it I have tried it. I'm so tired and we are all so cranky but they just don't give up. Please some one tell me how to handle this before I lose my mind!

oh, I right there with you. My daughter goes to bed at 8pm (she is one). My son (who is four) I can put to bed at 9pm but he stays up till 11 or so too. I am constantly telling him to go back to bed. By the time I get him to sleep, my daughter will wake up wanting a bottle. Then I am back up with them at 7am. I have tired everything but my son is an insomniac. He doesn't even take naps at all anymore. Then I have the issue of my son crying when I tell him to go back to bed and waking up his sister.
I am also at my wits end. If you find out an answer please share it with me. I have forgotten what a decent nights sleep looks like.

Well crap! That doesn't give me any hope for the future!!! But I did get a really good nap today when they were taking a nap. Sorry

myLot reputation of 90/100. lilwonders123 (1252)   ranked 158 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

If both of yours are still taking naps than take advantage of it and take a nap yourself. I did it when my son still took naps and it helped. Enjoy while you can.

myLot reputation of 93/100. tiffiny (734)   ranked 536 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

Oh I most definately do take naps when they do. Lol With out them I wouldn't know what to do with myself. But now that I'm "working" from home I take those nap times and work threw them becuase I make earings and stuff with tiny parts. It's a double edge sword. But yesterday I did get a nap and they went to bed pretty well. So getting up at 6:50 this morning wasn't so bad. Hopefully the rest of the day will go good too.

I am not sure how old your children are but I have a 6, 5, 20month and 6 month old and my older 2 usually are in bed by 9 but I have trouble with my younger ones. My 20 month old use to go to bed real good for me and then in the last month well do what ever she can to stay up. So I tried the super nanny theory of putting her back in bed everytime she got up but after a few nights of doing that for a couple of hours I just didn't have the energy anymore. So I have put a child gate at her door and I let her cry herself to sleep. She might fall asleep by the gate but at least she goes to sleep for me at a decent hour. Now I just have to worry about my 6 month old waking me. Good luck with yours.

My kids are 3 and 10months. Plus here's the kicker we are living in a two bedroom tiny appartment untill we are able to move. We are a military family so I try to keep the kids quite threw the night becuase my husband gets up at four. But maybe when we move I'll use the gate thing for my son. Thank you

i am one mather,so i may understand you feeling,my daughter is two years old,she is very cute and clamorous, but i like, becauseshe is a baby, the work she do now is play, don't worry, this will be past, don't tell them not to do sth, tell them how to do,you will like,of course,i don't know how old are you children,if they cry all night, they must be hungry and
uncomfortible,no other reason,if you are sure no these reason, then don't let them sleep daytime, then they will sleep night, after sometime, they will be used to do it,i know this time will be very tired, insist and think good things, this time is important to you, they depend you, perhaps you will miss this time when they grow up,ok, if you have some question, ask me,we may communcite,i hope my answer will be use to you.

Thank you for your help. If things don't go well today then I may have to do your idea. I just really like my nap time and when I don't take a nap I really like the time I get from them sleeping to be and not do a darn thing! Lol

You might try changing their diet. Eliminate sugar and artificial flavors and colors. Those things can cause hyper activity.
Be sure they're drinking plenty of plain water.
Try reading to them or telling them a story and lying down with them until they fall asleep. That works for my grandsons. Sometimes it takes 2 or three stories.
For babies try very solfty rubbing their forehead.

myLot reputation of 93/100. tiffiny (734)   ranked 536 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

Ok. I will have to try that tomorrow becuase I already gave my son a pop tart for breakfast. But I know my daughter eats pretty healthy considering she's still a baby ya know. But thank you. I had never heard of maybe it being a diet thing

lovelight (11)   ranked 5,400 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

It's not too late to start today. Just watch what he eats the rest of the day.
As for the water...if he's getting up because he feel 'restlest', drinking plenty of plain water will help sooth tired restless muscles.

So, here is the thing. I am a mother as well, my kids are 5, 4 and 2 and a half. My two older ones usually go to bed no problem, but my younger one likes to mess with me. She is a diabetic, so she usually gets spoiled. Some nights I am not in the mood. So what I do, and it might sound mean, is I take away her favorite stuffed animal, a dog. We call it her special puppy. So I take it away from her and then I turn to walk out of the room and tell her that she will not get it back till she stops crying and goes to sleep. I have never had to leave the room all the way because at that point she agrees with me, and she gets her puppy back. I am up at night alot with her because I have to monitor her, but I can tell you that I have found a wonderful sleep aid that is call Melatonin. It is a natural chemical that your brain produces, but sometime lacks in it because our sleep cycle is messed up.
You take this at bed time and then sleep like a baby. Not to the point that you cannot hear anything that goes on, just to the point where you are getting a deeper sleep when you are sleeping. My daughter wakes up a lot during the night, but then I can get back to sleep no problem because I take this pill, Do not take it more than 3-4 weeks in a row, you might become dependant on it, but skip a few days and start up again when needed.
Anyways hope this helps

myLot reputation of 93/100. tiffiny (734)   ranked 536 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

Where in the heck do you get that medicine!!! Lol And you are able to wake up and everything no problem when she starts to cry and everything?

lovelight (11)   ranked 5,400 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

That's not mean at all, Mellcluck. You are teaching her self control and to be responsible for her own actions. Traits that will be very useful when she gets older and are far easier learning before she has to break habits that are long standing.

I have only one son but I face the same problems with him, specially when he was younger. He would wake up 2 to 3 times in the night and with me working, I used to feel like crying. Buy my hubby was a great help (he still is) and we used to take turns. We divided the night and like I used to wake up till say 1am and after that till morning, whenever our son woke up, my hubby used to attend to him. and then after say 6am when I would get up, he would take another short nap. We just used to manage somehow and the years passed by!

myLot reputation of 93/100. tiffiny (734)   ranked 536 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

Ok so what do you do when your husband doesn't wake up. I'm serious that he actually doesn't hear our daughter crying. I have kicked him out of the bed litteraly before he woke up and helped.

myLot reputation of 90/100. sudiptacallingu (7279)   ranked 954 out of 6,566 in mother  3 years ago

well this is something which you both will have to sort out and sort out real serious. you cant have pushing each other just when the baby cries. we had a clear-cut time say around 1am. we used to put on the alarm and whose turn it was to wake up, would wake up no matter what. then the rest of the night was spent maybe reading or watching TV or whatever required to keep you from falling asleep. we used to do it by turns so nobody had anythign to complain.
