 Okay, I am 18 today. Yay me! I thought I was gonna have fun today but there was a lot of drama and now I'm getting really annoyed.
There are all these guys coming out of the works who say that they've liked me for a long time but every time they go to say something that I have had a boyfriend. Considering I was with my most recent long term relationship for a year and a half I can see why. What I don't get is why they are JUST NOW saying something. I suppose it's possibly that they didn't realize I was single, or that they were scared, or maybe they knew that I had started a new relationship and noticed it ended. I don't know but the first thing I thought was that it was because I'm "legal" now and that they don't really want a relationship at all. A couple of these guys though, I just can't see that coming from.
Anybody else have this happen to them? A sudden surge of men or even interesting stories about turning 18?

1.  emarie (4458) | 2 years ago |  Not really. When I was 18, I was already engaged to a guy who was 32 and I was also pregnant. But I don't think it's you turning 18 that made the guys go for you. Most guys don't really care. I met my husband when I was 17 and the line I remember the most was..."14's LEGAL!" which at the time, where I lived 14 was the consensual age. Turning 18 wasn't really a big deal for me...turning 21 wasn't even a big deal either, its just that I could drink and I'm not a really big drinker.

There are so many things I can do now that I couldn't do before that will make my life much better. I think 21 probably won't be that big of a deal for me except for the night of. I mean, come on, it's not like I've gotta wait til I'm 21 to drink anyways. Haha. | |

Then, I had to babysit, oh how boring...lol. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I can't imagine being married and having children that early, my mom got pregnant with me when she was 16 and had me when she was 17 but didn't get married until a while later. All of that is just too much for me.:P | |

I'm still under my mother's care due to several health problems and minor disabilities that not only forced me to drop out of school, but keep me from being able to get a job. That and having to keep ID on me all the time, which I'm not used to since I can't drive.

Here's an interesting story about turning 18 for you: On my birthday I went to a Circle K (convenience store) to buy a pack of cigarrettes. I got them with no problem. I was almost out the door when I realized I could then buy a lottery ticket for the first time ever (I think the legal age in my state now is 21, but back then it was 18). Anyway, I turn around, go back to the same cashier, tell her I want a scratch ticket, and she CARDS me. No joke. I say, "You just sold me these cigarrettes with no ID, but now you are carding me for a lottery ticket?". Her answer was that the lottery ticket was double the fine if she was caught selling to a minor. That is something I will never forget about my 18th birthday.
