Do you find it easy to have a good clear out?Do you hoard? recycle? Donate to charity? I'm just trying to have a prechristmas clean up.

I went through a stage of getting involved in many different crafts and whe I would get involved in a new one I would get so involved with it I would think thats the end of the previous craft and give all my craft things for that away then years later I was sorry because I went back to that craf so my next stage was not to get rid of anything saying to myself I might want again some day, but today I am giving heeps away as I have had to clean a couple of places up after loved ones have died and I really don't want to leave this much stuff for them to get rid of....

I try not to throw out much. I like to recycle and donate everything I can. I like getting rid of stuff...I don't like a lot of clutter...I also try not to accumulate much by not buying a lot to begin with...though sometimes that can be hard.

This is the right kind of question for you to ask someone like me, I throw mostly everything away. I refuse to hoard anything, I feel as though if it's broke, don't fix it, it can be replaced with something new.
I don't hoard anything because if someone was to go to my grandma's house they would then understand why I am the opposite. My grandma saves mostly everything and it sickens me. My grandma puts the ghetto in ghetto-ness. I'm 24 years old, and I can bet on it that my grandma have some of my baby clothes still in her home.
My grandma raised me, so just imagine my childhood. She literally saved everything; I tried to clean her home, and throw things in the trash every chance I got, but since she was a hoarder, when I put things in trash bags and sent them outside, she would go in the trash bag, look inside, and bring things back into the house. It used to boil my skin.
Go into my gradma's bedroom, and you would think it was a clothing store, and what pisses me off is she mainly wears the same thing everyday, and I ask her why she has so many clothes that she doesn't even wear, her response it that it is hers. She still have things with the price tags still on them. She's 80 years old, and she still have clothes in her closet from her teenage years I bet.
I could write a book about my grandma and her home, that's why when a person comes to my home it's the complete opposite of hers. Everything's new and stylish, and every once in a while I clean out my closet, donate things and throw things away.
And, if something is broke, it will throw in right in the trash can. On the other hand, if something is broke at my grandma's house, my uncles they live there too, so they take right after her and fix things. Example, when the iron got broke, they cut the cord off and replaced it with a new cord and put alot of black wire tape around it to hold it together. Another example, when the dining table that holds up the glass started to get losen, they put so much clear tape on it to make it strong..... like I said before I could write a book, it's just ridiculous.
I guess they're hoarders and cheap....but what gets to me is that they gamble every single day, playing lottery, so money isn't an issue.
Sorry to write so long, but I had to bring up the issue of how my grandma hoards things, and I promised myself when I got older and got my own place, that I will never ever be anything like her, and thank God I'm not.

I'm bad about saving stuff, but it's for a good cause, because later on I'll be needing it!
But every once in a while, one needs to go through stuff and reevaluate it,and throw away something that you haven't used, and probably never will!

No, it's actually quite hard for me to throw things out. I always go, "Hey, maybe I'll need this one day, I better keep it." or "I remember this thing from a long time ago, I don't want to lose the memory." And because of that attitude of mine, I have a big pile of junk that I probably don't need.

Though sometimes I get out of that phase and become able to throw things out. I usually recycle the things I can recycle, old papers and what not. I've also donated old books to the library and clothes to the Salvation Army. I suppose since I don't need it, it's probably better off being in someone else's hands.

It is really hard to me to throw away my stuff, because every stuff has it's memory and happy or sad moments which you not always want to part with. But when I see that my house has no more room for all my stuff I just throw away all my things at once.

I find it pretty easy to get rid of those things that I don't need anymore. I recycle what I can, at least I'm really trying hard to recycle all of those things that I no longer need. If I could actually bring myself to donate items to a place that I know will take them, I would donate some of the clothes and what not that I need to get rid of. I'm not really a hoarder. There are some things that I just cannot get rid of for whatever reason. So I just kind of stick those somewhere else until I come across them again and decide that I can finally get rid of them.
