Christmas or any holiday celebrations dinner? | | what are you and your family making for dinner this year? this year we are not having ham like we usually do, we are having turkey instead, because my parent's bought the turkey for thanksgiving but then was invited over to another family members home. I'm making homemade mashed potatoes, and cookies. my mom is making her favorite green bean casserole, and my dad is making deviled eggs, homemade stuffing and what ever else he decides as it gets closer. and of course there will be pies.

RLFinNash (5750) | 9 months ago | and i forgot to mention snacks like sausage balls, pickles and that kind of stuff. Krogers sells this delicious soft cheese spread in a jar and i do not have a jar of it yet, but you find it back where the Kraft and Kroger cheeses are. it is in a small jar. it might be like a 4 ounce jar that it comes in, but it is the best thing to put on celery pieces, take and cut up your celery pieces in smaller pieces and stuff it with the cheese. it is so good.

oneandonemakesix (24171) | 9 months ago | Wow RL it sounds like you are going to have a wonderful feast.....both for breakfast and dinner. If I lived closer I would say we are going to come crash your party for dinner, and I could bring the Italian lasagna and garlic bread. But enjoy your day with your family and cooking, I hope you truly make it a family event and time of togetherness. Mooch

| | 2. oneandonemakesix (24171) | 9 months ago | I truly have not decided on Christmas dinner, and for all I know I might just make hot dogs and noodles for dinner. The kids know I'm still upset about Thanksgiving, going all out and making a meal they begged me for and they wouldn't, well 2 of them, refused to eat the dinner I made. I've been tossing the idea around of lasagna, or a lamb roast, and I'm more for a lamb roast as its a lot less work to do, and I can spend more time with the family. I want something simple and easy. | | | 3. cathy_mahoney (38) | 9 months ago | Our Christmas tradition is that we visit with my parents and my husband's parents on Christmas day. We alternate eating Christmas dinner between both sets of parents. However, this year both fathers have been affected by cancer, and my brother has decided to take over the Christmas dinner for this year. I don't know what my in-laws plan for this year, and I have even lost track of whose turn it is for Christmas dinner. Both sides of the family serve a traditional turkey dinner with potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, apple and mincemeat pies, french "tourtiere", green, potato and pasta salads, pickles, tomato juice and appetizers.

| | 4. maddysmommy (10215) | 9 months ago | We actually haven't decided one what to eat on Christmas day. I think we will decide when my husband gets back on Dec 20th from Thailand. It's going to be a simple meal like roast chicken and stove top stuffing, with veges and gravy, dessert and what not or it could be something simple since its only the three of us this year.

We will have ham and turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, corn, sweet potatoes, green bean cassarole, biscuits, cranberries and lots of desserts. My mom always makes pumpkin pies, pecan and lemon merengue, but someone usually makes other varietys as well. Along with cake and cookies. I make apple-pecan scones in the morning for my dad. This is the only time that I make them and he always looks forward to them.

| | | | 7. 4monsters4me (2026) | 9 months ago | We just discussed this the other day in my house and decided we are having roast beef. It is tradition in our house but last year we had ham because everyone had a taste for it. It will be roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, polish sausage, maybe some pirogies, veggies, probably sweet potatoes because my 5yo loves them, rice or some other side dish. Who knows what else--just whatever me and my dad feel like making (he's cooking the roast so I'm sure he'll decide to make something else, too--last year he made green bean casserole).
